Analog clock display
Can anyone point me in the right direction for an analog clock display on the instrument display. I have found where you can set the time but nothing about an analog display.

Via iDrive: "My Vehicle" "iDrive settings" "Displays" "Instrument panel" "Time" Select the desired setting. (From "Setting the clock time display" in the online manual.) |

I find the “comfort mode” analog speedometer display in the Exec pac insufficient for me to guess my speed. Just not enough gradients. I have been default selecting “sport mode” but with with gas prices slowly on the rise I wish there was a better way. During the day when wearing sun glasses I turn off the HUD but it doesn’t totally move it to the center of the RPM gauge like it does when on NAV mode.
I wish they would move the HUD down there completely when it is menu deselected by the driver.

Menus are different
Darrylo,
My menus are different. To get to the Time settings, it is as follows: My Vehicle i Drive Settings Time and Date There is no option for the analog clock. Instrument display menu does not have any time format option. Confused Wallyf |

A bit off-topic but related to display 'when' - Do you know what is the best way to display date information?
'Communication' panel in the control display is the only place I can check the date, but it's not intuitive - I have Media, Vehicle Info, and Maps in the default page of the control display and I normally have Media and Maps on the screen (either one as main, the other one as separate display). I know there is 'clock' option in separate display, but I hate that giant sized plain looking clock to occupy the space full-time - I find either album art or maps, or vehicle info (with fuel consumption) to be way more useful. It is odd that I have clock on both in the instrument display as well as the top part of the control display, yet date info is not shown anywhere. |

Executive pkg
No, I did not get the Executive pkg.
If BMW left this option out of the basic configuration they are greedier that I thought. BS!!!! I just asked my local BMW Genius in an email how to do select the analog clock. Let's see what he comes back with. Wallyf |

While I think BMW is a greedy bunch of bean-counting bast*rds , I'm not sure there's any room for an analog clock -- the plastic on the partially-digital dash really limits the space.
(And, if I were a betting man, I'd bet that the digital displays on both are the same, but the "partially digital" one has a lot of covering plastic, different software, and maybe some production defects (covered by the plastic).) |

Darryl,
I noticed the plastic on my X3 would not permit an analog clock, also. BMW must have changed the plastic bezel at some point. According to my BMW Genius the option has been eliminated on vehicles entering “integration level” S15A-18-03-520 or later, whatever this means. Well, BMW does it again. Not sure what they save on each vehicle to eliminate this option. Wallyf |
