Ambient air cartridge
Hello guys, I have the X3 m40i with the ambient air package. It's been almost 2 month I own the car and the car tells me that my cartridges are empty... why do these last only 1 month each? They still have some scented oil in them... I think it has a digital gauge like printers... I've read on other forums that they last 6-9 month on 5 and 7 series. I have 4000 km on my car now.

I've been on the 1 setting since picking-up the car at the end of Dec and I just started to get the low cartridge warning last week. Daily use at a setting of 1 should last at lest 4 months. Replacements are $50 Canadian each.

This is not an attack... it’s purely information.
I love the idea of a fragrance feature.... but would not choose it even if it was an option here. It wasn’t. https://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/the...18-gttrua.html I have a sick dog who is very sensitive to all chemicals. I got rid of all fragrance type products. It’s impossible to get rid of them completely as they are in everything... but I no longer buy fragrance candles, sprays etc for the house or car. |

Does everyone have the Ionization option in iDrive to clean the air (Vehicle Settings>Climate Functions>Air Quality>Ionization) or is it part of the Ambient Air Package?

cvee - thanks for posting. I agree about eliminating artificial fragrances (or at least limiting them as much as possible). My mother gets quite ill from all sorts of artificial fragrances (perfumes, scented candles, air fresheners, scented shampoos & lotions, cleaning products, etc.)
I do like pleasant scents though so I was wondering if anyone has tried to refill the cartridges with pure essential oils. |

BMW Canada’s site does not mention it in the ambient air package description. For that matter, it does not provide any written description whatsoever, so we are supposed to guess what it includes. I only know I have the ultimate package and have the ionization feature so not much help, but I seem to recall my BMW “genius” saying it was part of the ambient air package.
