It sounds like pure s**t with the bimmertech amp (my harness didn't have that bypass so it amplified that sound trifold)

Sound is about as subjective as it gets. I'm happy my car didn't come with active sound, it's the dorkiest trend in modern cars.

Here's two videos I found (not my car this time) - with a little more A/B back and forth and better sound recording vs mine. Also one car auto - one car manual

Interesting, seems like the active sound mainly adds a little more low end/midrange bass to the overall tone. Maybe that’s why my dinan catback sounds so bassy...

I really didn't notice the sound change all that much from mode to mode - perhaps you could look into coding a different engine sound into your car - example would be the last video - just my 2-cents as I'm not the best person to answer this question for a number of reasons
