Deen's 435d Build Thread

Hi all,

Purchased a (new to me) 2015 BMW 435d xDrive M-Sport Plus in Estoril Blue Metallic on Saturday 21st April 2018 (about 12 days ago!).

Wanted to join the forum to say hi, learn a few things and make my first ever build thread. I will be documenting all the mods and anything in general about the car, no matter how or small that I do to this car.

The Spec of my Car is as follows:

- 2015 435d xDrive
- M-Sport Plus
- Estoril Blue
- Black Dakota Leather
- Professional Navigation
- Heads-Up Display
- Harmon/Kardon Surround Sound
- Reverse Camera with Park Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Adaptive Xenon Headlights
- Adaptive Suspension
- Electric Adjustable and Folding Mirrors
- Sun Protection Glass
- Light Package
- Shadow Line
- Burr Walnut Wood Interior Trim
- 19" 403m Alloys

This is my first BMW that I've owned. My other cars are a Mercedes C Class Coupe AMG Line and a Porsche Panamera Turbo.

First Impressions:
The 435d has a special place though - not only is it stupidly fast, but I have (once) returned above 40mpg. Unfortunately, I've got an extremely heavy foot, so I'm currently returning 26.4mpg - which is still amazing in a car that has this much power and is a diesel. I've launched the car about 10 times, and it just pulls and pulls, and never ceases to stop.

The xDrive was essential for me - as I live in the UK and we always have rain (or random snow periods). Yes, I've read the debates on xDrive vs RWD+Winter Tyres, and I know RWD would be more fun to drive, however, I like the security of knowing that I can pull out of a wet corner and nothing crazy will happen. My wife may also be driving it with my baby boy around, so I'd rather they have no surprises, which is another positive for having the xDrive.

It's also nearly half a second faster than the 435i in terms of 0-62mph times. Whilst I know that 0-62mph times are the end-all-and-be-all of life, in London, there's a camera EVERYWHERE, so to know that I can take most cars at traffic lights with a 0-62mph time of 4.7s, is an absolute bonus. Also, the Diesel sounds amazing when you floor it - doesn't sound like a Diesel at all.

I've never owned a metallic blue car, and Estoril Blue is just something else! It shimmers and shines in the sunlight, and you really can't take your eyes off of it.

Honestly, this has to be one of the most balanced cars (in terms of power, economy, refinement and quality) that exist, and comes very highly specced as standard.

Will be updating regularly with every single mod I do. Hope you guys enjoy the progress that is yet to come.

Deen.

MOD #1 - Gloss Black M4 Style (Dual Slat) Grills

MOD #1 - 29/04/18 - Gloss Black M4 Style (Dual Slat) Grills

Just started this build thread, and I thought I would update it with my first mod.

As my 435d has no chrome (expect the grill and the chrome exhaust tail pipes), I decided that I needed to get rid of the chrome at the front. The chrome grills that are stock aren't actually that bad looking. I actually love a bit of chrome to be honest, but I prefer those to be on the badges or the exhaust pipes.

Also, the chrome grills seemed a bit out of place on the car, as all the chrome on my car is high gloss black (Shadowline). So I ordered the grills from eBay, before I even picked up the car. They arrive within about 3-4 days (by that time I had the car at home). Life got in the way, as usual, so the high gloss m4 style grills were just sitting in their box.

About 3-4 days ago at 11:30pm, I decided enough was enough! I went outside and swapped the grills over myself in the middle of the night. It took about 20-30 mins (some of the clips on the original grills are a challenge to squeeze out). My arm was bruised (up until yesterday), but it was well worth it!

Transforms the look of the car, in my option! Pics attached. Before (on day of collection), after (the next morning). Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Deen.
