I believe wheel locks are always optional.
But you should be able to ask them to throw it in for free.

No

and if they did I'd take them off... I previously lost the key and its a painful costly affair.

I just ordered a set of OEM factory BMW wheel locks for the G30 5-series (14mm x 1.25 pitch) for around $20 shipped and they work perfectly.

Like others said, don't loose the wheel lock key or it can be a painful & costly thing to deal with.

You know. It’s actually not in my experience. Back in school I worked at a tire shop. Folks would come in missing their key for the locks. A quick knock of a hammer and a socket just tight enough to grip around the lock and you can get it off. Was a cool trick.

Now the cost I suppose could be attributed to a new lock set afterwards. But most opted to just throw on a new lug.

My car came with a set of wheel locks in the trunk and I was confused why they weren't installed at the port. When i put my new wheels on I realized already had a set on the car.

So I guess these are being thrown around for free without issue, if they were going to just give me two sets. This of course should be negotiated at time of sale.
