BMW 435i 2014 Keyfob transmitter died?
Suddenly the keyfob stopped working.
The comfort access seems to work and I can start the engine. But none of the remote buttons works. I replaced the battery but still nothing. My spare fob works on both batteries. I have a wide range radio and found the transmitter frequency on 433.116MHz..the working one clearly sends pulses when any button is pressed. But the faulty one is dead silent. Can the fob really break down without any reason? I even tried to "re-programm" the fob by holding it next to steering columns between two arrows but it stayed the same. |

Did you drop it or get it really wet?

I didn't drop or wet it.
I was on gas station when I tried to start the engine and it failed. The dash said something about flat battery so I assumed the fob was flat. Strange thing was that it didn't start even when placing it next to steering column. I stepped out of car, tried to lock doors and central lock worked. But the car still didn't start. After many attempts it suddenly started?? However none of buttons worked anymore. So I have no idea what went wrong. Anyway, the fact is that the fob still works with comfort access and starts the engine (does it have some proximity sensor) ..only the transmitter seems to be dead. Or disabled? Have it checked out by a dealer or use a new battery. Taking the battery out of another fob may not work, best to use a brand new battery. If you're still under warranty you may be able to get a new fob or get the battery replaced for free if under maintenance agreement.

Similar thing happened to me. I replaced the battery and it still did not work. The solution was to clean the battery contacts in the fob with a good cleaning solution (i used an alcohol swab). The fob picks up moisture and "stuff" in your pocket so cleaning the contacts did the trick in my case.
Good luck.

Tried cleaning..didn't help. But I don't think it's the battery contact since the proximity sensor works: doors unlocks with Comfort access and the engine starts
But anyway...I called the dealer and the warranty is untill end of this year so they promiced to check/replace the unit. |

What was the resolution to this? I had this issue with one of the fobs (replaced battery, steering column sync, etc.), and was never able to use the buttons, but CA worked fine when it was in my pocket. Not a huge deal, was using the second fob I had.... Well, until today. Now neither of them work (using buttons), but both are detected by the car to use CA, start the car, open trunk with sensor under car, etc... I've been searching high and low for a solution, but haven't found anything. Understood that it's likely I am going to have to bite the bullet and go to dealer service, but am trying to avoid that at all costs (a lot of costs, I am sure). |
