JB4 to BM3 - Thumbs up!

Not going to get a lot of solid technical info out of this post but I just wanted to share my experience going from a JB4 to BM3.

MUCH better.

I run a high flow cat (but not decatted, although 1.5 years later who knows how much of the cat is actually left) with a larger FMIC.

a) Much more predictable. As many have stated, the JB4 at times seamed so unpredictable. Engine warmed up, all the obvious conditions should be "checked" off, but it felt as though it was not even on. Yes I tried Maps 2 and 5. 2 seamed to be the most consistent.

b) MUCH better at lower RPM. It just works RIGHT from the get go. The JB4 seamed to have a specific RPM (2.5k+?) where it kicked on. The BM3 can be felt right from take off, even at slower speeds and lower RPMs.

c) I always had a sort of transmission slip on my first shift of the morning. It was very pronounced and ALWAYS there as I live in a heavily populated area and drive out nice and slow. The first 1 to 2 shift would hold for like 2+ seconds before popping over. This is now gone.

So there it is, a free, real user, advert for BM3

I was hesitant to make the buy as I am now well past the phase of modding the car. Besides an upgraded turbo, its pretty much maxed out so I didn't feel like dumping any more coin into it... But I am GLAD I did.

Don't hesitate, you will be happy

I read your post and then noticed you own an E92 M3. Why the post in the F30 forums?

Someone told me that the BM3 voids any warranty! I plan on going JB4 until my warranty is up then switchin to BM3 if I can.

OP might have more than one car I was posting on the X5 forums and someone asked me the same thing, then realized I hadn't added it to my profile yet. Not really that big of a deal.

Yea definitely not a big deal. Just wanted a clarification before someone decides to buy BM3 based on a review from it installed on a different car.

anom3 , thx for that quick review. I've been on the JB4 for 4 months now, and it is as you stated. I'm on map1. Someday (warm, cool,or hot) it would run like a bat out of hell, other days, like a dog on a hot Sunday afternoon. I tried map5, waste of time. You know - the BMS Stage1 was more predictable, with consistent burbles. Which catted-downpipe do you have?
