Trim/seals squeaking and creaking???

Guys I know I'm not the only one that's experienced this but the door seals/trim/weather stripping creak and squeak and all of my friends F30s do the same thing. I had the trim replaced once and may have it done again before factory warranty is up.

Has anyone found a full fix for this? Our Corvette, Scion, Lexus and my family's Tundra, Audi, Rav4 all are quiet and do not suffer from this.

Dealer is willing to replace the trim again but I'm wondering if it's just going to continue?

i believe there's threads about this. Felt tape or some such on the metal bits seemed to solve it.

Also think there's a Teflon or silicone spray. If you search I'm sure you'll find it.

Never really noticed any door seals creak or squeak on my F32.
Athough there are plenty of creaks from the interior and a squeak from the left side rear suspension over bumps.

I've been tracking this issue for a while and have done extensive research. There is no one resolution. Some things work for others. The most successful remedy was the gumni fledge. Followed by the teflon tape.

I also read around here that spray waxing the seals and then applying paste wax on the door jams have cleared the issue.

Another member has mentioned checking to see if your rear seats are securely latched.

Another member isolated it to the rear dome lamp light having a loose clip.

Mine is definitely coming from around the doors, primarily the rear doors. Super annoying.

Buddy got in my car the other day as we were driving through the parking garage going to lunch and asked "what is that noise?" I had to explain it to him, he was kind of shocked, his C class despite its cheap and awful interior (2014 model) is dead silent in the parking garage.

Yeah the newer cars are bad. I have a weird door rattle coming from my 16 F31, our 14 F30 is just generally creaky and the 16 F23 is admittedly a convertible but it's horrible in that regard. The 07 E70 I have is crap too it sounds like my father moaning and groaning with every move.

The only really good one is the E46 convertible believe it or not, that thing is silent.

I've just started upgrading audio systems and drowning it out.

It's mostly bc of the frameless windows on the F series cars.

Mines does it as well. Do you have a M-sport? It looks like the Shadowline trim rubs against the door seal causing the squeaking noise. I'm currently applying some Gummi Pflege every month to keep it quiet. Works great but might get some felt tape for a permanent fix.

Have same car, you want felt tape to solve.

I have used felt tape. Once you isolate where the rattle is felt tape works great. Buy it on amazon.

I just put some krytox lubricate on all 4 windows seal where it touches the shadow line trims and it’s quite now. I remembered taking my coworkers to lunch and it was creaking like crazy. They’re were like “damn that’s some major creaking in here”

+1 for Gummi Pflege. I had the same problem on a M-Sport, applied Gummi Pflege on the door seals and haven’t had any squeaks/creaks since. That was about a year ago.

Take a look at the following links I've complied. Bet you haven't seen these yet!

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=796925

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1029827

http://www.540i6.com/doorseals.html

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1031768

I also believe i solved my noise issue last night while i sat in the backseat. I have the GT style and I'm pretty sure i pinpointed and resolved the issue. It was the the two black modular pieces that connected and serve as the cover for the storage area. When I simply pushed on it the noise disappeared on the remaining 3 mile trip, so we'll see.

I'm fairly lucky because I don't really have a issue with seal noise which i originally thought before i sat in the backseat. The rattles I get now happen on occasion and emit from the dashboard and rear center console by the air vents which Is an easy fix provided in one of the links i posted.

I fixed the center console storage noise by putting rubber foam tape where the little hatch door meats the main console plastic. There are three points of contact you can see they are rubber nipples.

I hope this helps! Goodluck

I've isolated it to the black plastic window trim. It's not the rubber seals.

I've been slathering the gummi pfledge all over the car for a month. I can't get the drivers door to stop, only when the window is up at low speed with the music off it creaks badly still. I've managed to get the other 3 quiet. I may have to replace the one piece.

BTW the gummi is real nice on the wiper blades, just wipe the excess off.

How long does the gummi fix the noise?

It depends .. a few weeks to a few months.

A certain pressure wash bay I [used to] visit had "bad soap" in it that seemed to be death to the seals and rattle like crazy the day after. I switched to a far away car wash place and the soap has been fine it's been holding up for a while now.

I've read all the threads on these topics .. the gummi seems to be the best fix, and the chemicals applied to the car seem to cause the seals rattling. I think it's more the black plastic (shadow line) window trim pieces than the door rubber, but it's both.
