company car Uk emissions

just a heads up for anyone waiting months on a diesel, your new car will for sure have higher emissions than what you thought. for me another £320 a year to the tax man. the sandstorm in March looks handy for BMW as it gives them the chance to come clean before more cars are shipped into the UK.

Do you mean the new worldwide emissions standard which are supposed to be more real world?
So car tax goes up as the figures now quote a higher than under the current testing methods?

Assume this doesn't affect existing cars? I had to pay £500 for first year road tax on a 540

Sorry, not sure what exactly your point is as the investigation has been going on for a while. Taxes are already high and I'm paying £450 a year. So, not sure whether there'll be any impact.

Your high road tax is based almost entirely on the fact that your car cost over £40k and the Treasury see you as someone who can afford to pay. On the basis that your 540 is less polluting than a sub £40k Yank V8 current taxation clearly has sod all to do with pollution and everything to do with screwing the middle classes. At least when rfl was less for efficient cars you knew where you stood. Now it’s completely nonsensical.

And all the top manufacturers making their executive cars to be more efficient only to be told hey that does not matter any more it’s only retail costs. Hardly an incentive for emission reducing investment. Nothing can help my genuine loathing for that man!

Just to clarify , I was talking about your company car tax calculation , not road tax . My car was ordered in December , yes still waiting, co2 value was 108 it’s now 119 meaning an additional tax hike . Cheers
