328 diff fit on 330i?

I have a damaged rear differential in my 330i mt. I read up about swapping the differential with one from an at, and apparently it just bolts right on, and is easy. Is this also the case with the 328i differential? Does it have the same flange/output mounting? If not, perhaps the 325 or 335i does?

Yes it'll bolt up

I have a 3.73 from an 06 325 on my 08 128

There are possible input flange differences between 325, 328, and 330 differentials. I can't remember exactly which ones match up off the top of my head but if you do a little searching, this was discussed herel a few months back.

The easiest way is to look under your car at where the drive-shaft connects with the diff. Note where the bolts are. Look at pics and make sure the diff you buy from auto e9x has the same "pattern" of bolts as yours.

335 does not bolt up.

Auto N54 small diffs (188) are almost able to bolt up. The different being for the N52 we have a 4 bolt flange style driveshaft to connect to the diff, while the N54 diffs use 1 large single nut. Diff mounting points and axle shafts are identical.

E30ROB showed us for E82 (I don't know about E90 but I bet it's similar), you can use the back half of a 135i driveshaft and make everything bolt up
