Can You Identify This Car - Alpina ?

I was at the dealership this afternoon, a unique BMW car caught my eye, and could help but take pictures of it. Sorry about the clarity for Ive used only my Phone-Camera for this, but the beauty of this car can be seen regardless.

Maybe we can have those "Real BMW Aficionados" in this message board come forward and share with us some Trivia Pursuits information.

Its not that I about get one of these, but it would be nice to know more about it, and how it compares to all the BMW series line-up, in terms of specification and cost in relation of other BMW series.

Seem like a car only Jay Leno would have in his garage.

The only information given was it was 2003 Alpina, even at that, not even sure if its correct!

Thks Gang, just though it be nice to share! Maybe the owner is a member in this forum, Pls come fwd!

Actually, the Alpina-tuned Z8 is powered by their own B10 4.8L V8 producing 375HP/383lb.ft. All Alpina Z8s are equipped with autotragic 5-speed transmissions vs. the normal Z8s' 6-speed manuals.

The limited edition Alpina Z8 for the Asian market uses the B10 engine, a specially developed version of BMW's "regular" V-8 engine. The Alpina engine is a 4.8-liter with 375 hp, with individual throttles for each of the eight cylinders and many other racecar-like engineering features. The power peak of the Alpina engine comes at 5800 rpm vs. 6600, and its torque peak occurs at the same 3800 rpm but is actually higher, with 383 lb-ft. (vs. 368 lb-ft).
but not all markets are in asia

The Alpina Z8 was on one of the Top Gear episodes, JC talks about how lame it was of Alpina to detune the already "slow" Z8, and add an Alpina premium to it.

Well if its costs 120,000 euro and the car cut in half:

120,000/2=60,000 euro/1.19$ = $50,420

Conclusion even Half that Car ... cost more than a One Whole fully loaded E90/330i

thnks!

EDIT: xspeedy (bimmerfest) added link that is noteworthy

The alpina Z8 does not use the M5 motor (old V8 one) it used a 540 motor that was tuned, and the car was only available with a slushbox....

alpina Z8 is sad

Also, Alpina is not actually a car; it's one of BMW's tuning partners.
That's NOT true, Alpina is a car manufacturer and not a BMW tuner.. If you have a Alpina it says 'Alpina' in you registration papers and not BMW.
This car is based on a BMW Z8, but is in fact an BMW Alpina Roadster V8.
It has got 381 hp and 520 Nm torque, only 555 were build.

True. Alpina is like what RUF is to Porsche.
