Rear view mirror auto dimming

First time to drive my x3 out at night time and it didn’t look like the auto dimming is on. Anyone got a picture to show me what it looks like when the auto dimming is on?

It should appear slightly blue and dimmer.

Found it! It looks like a piece of tinted green plastic sheet. Why does it not cover the whole mirror? There are about 0.5cm gas between the sheet and the mirror edge. whats the point?

It has always been like that. Just that in previous generations, the gap is hidden by the thick frame of the mirror. Now that "thin frame" or "frameless" display and mirror is the trend, the gap becomes exposed.
