Side mirrors issues

I’ve been told that the side mirrors will tilt down by themselves when the car is in reverse mode, but it doesn’t happen for my newly shiny X3. Is it because of the parking plug package or it is a defect? Anyone knows why?

You may need to get your supplying dealer to code the functionality - I had to do so. Yes, it should have been done in the factory but it wasn't (presuming your X3 is equipped with the function - it is optional in the UK & Ireland)

Tilting mirror optional in the UK??? For real...

So a tilting mirror is an option you have to pay for?

A backup camera was a paid option not too long ago. BMW also still can't make extendable sun visors.

Are you able to adjust how much the mirror tilts when you put the car in reverse? It was simple to do on my last Audi but cant figure it out on the BMW

Looks like mine may have the same issue, so I've booked it into the dealer for investigation / attention.

Can you say how long the dealer needed your car for ?
Thanks.

Sorry, can't say exactly how long it took - dropped the X3 in during the morning, picked it up after work. Would have to imagine it's a relatively quick process though

OK, thanks anyway, hopefully not too long to wait.

Not normally. It needs to be done through coding.

Did you find any solutions? It looks like more people face this problem, I saw this also when I did the test drive. It dips to far.

i confirm, it was already bad on my previous F31 but in my G01 it's impossible to park correctly with it, i don't even see the rear of the car nor the right rear wheel...
very annoying and even dangerous....

OMG, the non-extendable sun visors is one of my major pet-peeves about my 2012 X3. I had hoped the 2018 X3 would have solved this. A $50k plus vehicle without this safety/comfort issue??? I had to buy after-market hokey plastic extenders to mitigate this lack of feature...

Does visor extendability vary by country? Our Canadian Youtuber friends seem happy with their M40i visors at around the 14:20 mark:

I sure hope my car has these visors when I pick it up this Friday...

Apologies, midster, not wishing to go off-topic on your OP threadline, but to answer the issue of visors extending as questioned above, wanted to add that they do 'extend', but only along their holding tube (not with an internal extension which other high-end Mnfrs allow). This was on the previous 'Wishlist' but I guess BMW felt this extension offers enough coverage (but I still don't think it does, IMHO). I'll add it again to the G01 LCI Wishlist but am not holding my breath.

And my apologies to the OP as well. Thank you for posting that pic. So they make extendable visors...they just don’t make them well...! I have a dedicated side visor on the MINI I am trading in for my X3, yet it is not long enough on the left side to block perpendicular sun.

So, i had some good news today about the problem with the passenger mirror tilting in reverse. My friend at BMW France is able to copy a configuration file from another car and upload it to my car so it has the correct factory setting. Not an official solution but i'll take it

Which was 'the other car'? How did he do it?

Uploading a "configuration file"?
Is this some form of coding? Haven't heard about this, can you give us some details?
