Wireless charging with iPhone 7 plus
Have not really used wireless charging before because I have the iPhone 7 Plus. Just got the M40i, it has wireless charging, but clearly I put my phone onto it, it does not charge. What methods do you guys use in order to utilize this function?

I don’t believe your iPhone 7 Plus has wireless charging. Unless you have added a wireless charging case, it won’t do anything. iPhone 8 introduced wireless charging.

I have an iPhone 7 and use the wireless charging tray daily. It works flawlessly. As others have said, you need to purchase a case for the iPhone 7 to work with the wireless charging tray. I purchased the BMW case as it was the same price as other cases and it gave me more confidence in the compatibility of the case with the charging tray. For what its worth, the X3 is the only current BMW model with a wireless tray large enough to accommodate the "plus" iPhones.

You've got more patience than me, you're only option is probably a case or use the front USB socket which I believe charges faster as well, I dislike cases and always risk my phones without

You can buy a wireless charging case for the 7+ easily enough on Amazon (other retailers are available), which is what I did. However, they tend to be a bit unreliable - I've already had two fail in the 3 months I've had my X3.

Interesting, I didn't know a product like this existed. The BMW case is approximately 3X the cost of similar cases on Amazon (which go for under $20) -- does anyone else have any experience with these (either the BMW version or the amazon versions)? Obviously its a low cost so I'm thinking of taking a flyer on one of these (like others I'm not ready to replace my 7 plus yet, at least not until next phone cycle), so these seem like a good stopgap to take advantage of the wireless charging. Any thoughts, good or bad, would be much appreciated.

That said, wireless charging with the latest Apple devices is problematic (the ones with built-in wireless charging). That's because:
For fast charging, although certainly not as convenient, you're better off buying a quality 12W USB power port and using a cable. |
