top speed w/o limiter
So my friend just dropped $150k cash on a '19 ZR1 Vette. I think he's nuts to pay that much for a "Chevy", but that's another convo. The limiter on the car is @ 215! Ours is a pathetic 155, but wonder what is really possible w/o it!

If you have the M-driver package (one day training at the track) they increase the top speed limiter to 190. Silly. The car will go as fast as 163 as is (briefly) according to reports. Dinan will have a tune soon and probably a Just Remove the limiter option.
The Cadillac CTSv also has no limiter. LOL. Mike

There goes the bargain that high-powered Vettes used to be. 2008 Z06 was $80K and acclerated so hard it would rip your face off.

Aren't our numbers very similar? Also, you need an incredible amount of experience to keep that thing on the road or track, whereas a child can get the most out of our cars, given the tech. However, it's apples to oranges in a sense, because if one wan't the raw race car experience (as raw as can be today), I would say the Vette fills that role. He was even able to order it w/ a stick!

Full removal? Not from BMW. Retrofit of M Driver's Pack with increase to 190mph? In Europe yes, US is still TBD. |

A ZR1 and F90 M5 should never be compared - nor should they be. The ZR1 is a world class track car - now that GM finally sorted their heat soak issues with the 13 additional coolers.
For the money - it will crush cars 2-3 times its price on a road course. The fact it takes skill is a non-issue - if that were the case no hyper performance cars would be created as almost no one could actually push them to their limits. Performance cars are about what they are CAPABLE of - in a measured sense (objective). All that said - I am good with 163 MPH without the ridiculous "performance" option to raise it to 190. More than enough for the half mile. |

Understood on the power, but that's not obviously everything, it's how the power is utilized and put to the ground. That's the marvel of the M5 w/ only 600hp. For example, I've read that the Vette is "only" good for a 0-60 of 2.9ish, because of wheel spin, but again as i mentioned above, it's apples and oranges really overall.

That Vette is very nice... I test drove one a couple years ago, both the base model and a ZR1. Opted to get an M2 at the time. Needed a car to get to work year round. By the time I can afford a 'toy' car for weekends only, it would be a Porsche.

Before that, it was a couple Roush supercharged mustangs, ending with the '08 P51A, which I still wish I had..
