Leave car in the rain for a whole day - harmful?

Hey guys. Weather sucks today, but my parking space is outside so the car will be exposed to heavy rain today. Is it harmful to the paint?

No...not unless you plan on not driving it for a very long time and it sits outside in those conditions. But, I believe the warranty covers things like rust perforation for 12 years and unlimited miles.

Have you applied any coating or sealant to the paint? If not, I'd recommend doing so.

No disrespect, but seriously?? Perhaps there's more to the question that I'm not getting?

Coming from owning a Subaru and being on those Forums to coming here with my first BMW en-route, there's been a few times I've had a chuckle about some of the topics/questions discussed such as the "Creaks and Rattles" thread (the stock exhaust on my STI would create rattles all throughout the interior of my car) and the discussions around road/wind noise and the "rough ride" of the M40i -which to me feels like I'm riding on a cloud compared to my previous car, but this one has to take the cake.

Some people don't know how to successfully integrate common sense with "must research every possible thing about my car on forums first".

I think in fairness to the poster a smily face after that would be helpful or he will be out there getting the car sealed up for a day in the rain - the other posts were more obviously in jest

OP - your car will be just fine. Mine is outside 99% of the time as my wife usually gets our single garage.

1. how many prior cars have you owned ?
2. To your knowledge, have any priors been damaged by rain? (not flooding)

But to be minutely correct . . . rain, dirt and UV rays from sun do over time deteriorate the paint surface.
Time, intensity of UV, and amounts of water and dirt are variables on severity.

I left my 911 outside in the rain, but it's OK I have full-wrap PPF. Just need to replace the PPF now before the next time it rains and the paint will be OK.

Unfortunately there's a shortage of blinker fluid. If you can drive around to all of your local auto part stores and manage to find a bottle you can probably sell it for many times what you paid.

your car will survive a day of rain, you drive it in the rain and that's much more intense on the exterior than just sitting there in the rain. I get that you love your car, but it is a car and it is not made from cotton candy.

These cars are not designed to survive precipitation. The vehicle is now toast.

Hey Google, is it ok to leave my car outside im the rain?

Alexa, is it ok to leave my car in the rain?

Hey Siri, is rain will harm my car paint?

I think those 3 AI will give you better answer than the forum members.
