BMW recalls 51 vehicles with wrong steering wheels

BMW Blog tonight. Says recall to begin July 23rd 2018 X3’s with steering wheels deemed to be incompatible with lane keeping assist. Pictures show our non-m-sport steering wheels that we got with our m-sports, and to call BMW if you have questions. States 2018/19 i30 & M40i.

Just called the stated number. They said I don't have any recalls. I am guessing they do not have the record yet until July 23rd?

Damn, mine provides the colored warnings. Guess I don't get the new wheel.

Mine does that too, but has some quirks that I have mentioned before that seem not right, not safe.

Misread title in hopes of BMW giving all is us 2018 owners M Steering Wheel.

Since it’s for the lane keep assist, it would only apply to people who have that option. The detection mechanism for keeping your hands on the wheel is not working for some steering wheels due to a supplier issue. It sounds like only 51 vehicles total were manufactured with this issue, so it’s pretty unlikely you’re affected. If your LKA can tell your hands are on the wheel, then you should be good to go.
