Stock 1/4 Mile Time - Real World Test

Hey guys,

I haven't seen any real world 100% stock 1/4 mile times so I decided to take my car to the track last night.

Island Dragway
Elevation: 511 FT
DA ranging from +1200 to +2100 last night
Temps from 68* to 88*

Specs on car:
100% stock 2018 X3 M40i
19'' All Season Run Flats
93 Octane
Launch control used on every single run

Wins: 9 out of 9
Focus RS (2)
Ford Edge 2.7TT (5)
Mustang GT 4.6L (1)
SRT Charger (1)

Best time - 12.986 @ 103.99
2nd Best - 13.012 @ 104.35

Observations
1. Launch control - I realized that when this mode is utilized the shifts are INSANELY fast where the car jumps up with every shift... and I realize that when it is not utilized that it doesn't. Its hard to describe but there is some different mode or something used that when launch control is enabled the shifts are 150% aggressive.

2. DA and times - I firmly believe with a 0 DA or - DA that I could easily run consistent 12.9's and 105-106.

3. Leave that hood open and take your time between runs - I hot lapped one run (15 min. break no hood open) and ran .2 seconds worse.

4. Launch control part 2 - I had better 60 foots when (IIRC) I would hit the accel pedal down to the kick down switch and only hold it for half a second or so. So essentially the less time it sits around 2200-2400 the better the 60'. Also need to let go of that brake REALLY quick to get that car to launch.

Thanks for sharing your stock runs, GT500R - should provide a sound basis for comparison of future mods for everybody. When I get a chance I'll make a spreadsheet for your data and post in the G01 1/4 mile reference thread.

Thanks for the info! I gotta say, I'm surprised to see a Ford Edge so close...was his car totally tuned/juiced?

It’s the 2015 Twin Turbo Ecoboost engine. He is a buddy who I raced against with when I had my Edge. He has just a tune/intake/wheels/springs/engine mount. Pretty quick actually, I had one that ran 12.99 with Tune/intercooler/E30.

His fastest time is 12.7 with 105 octane and -1200 DA

Hi there, I'll be getting my first fast car in a long while and have decided on the X3 M40i. I'm trash talking (friendly) with a friend who has the 2019 Civic Type R. Specifications-wise, as least compared to your notes, it seems the M40i will beat him out... on a "all things considered" equal road with no traffic. Would you agree?

I can only find this on the Type R for 2017 review:
Quote: The Civic Type R maintains second place through the quarter mile, too. It's 14.0-second run at 102.5 mph trails the Focus RS' 13.3-second run at 103.3 mph, but the Civic still just beats out the WRX STI (14.1 seconds at 98.5 mph) and the Golf R (14.1 seconds at 102.7 mph).

I'm hoping to give my friend a little smirk.

I agree, the Civic has the MPH to probably stay even with you from a roll, but anything from 20 mph or below, its bye bye....

Hello X3 folks. Alas, the X3 M40i with the options I'm looking for is taking forever to be sourced. This delay has given me pause and I'm instead going to the X5 40i. Hope everyone enjoys their X3. See you on the highway with my slower but fatter SAV!

Trying to ad some dragy data but it won’t allow me to insert a pic. 13.04 1/4 on a bone stock 2020 at 4250 DA.
12.48 with custom tune, 91 Octane. Not overly impressive but everything is slower in this DA.

Sounds like you had a blast!!

Island Dragway,my former home track for the past 20yrs before moving last year. Night time runs when its close to dew point and the track deteriorates were always fun on a 300hp bike lmao

*EDIT*-my apologies, didn't realize I replied to a dead thread that was just bumped up

Nothing about the OP's posts indicates anything that would be "killing performance".

HA. I said Crazy as in I was talking to CrazyRC not (OP)Gt500R. GT500R has been off these forums for several months after getting rid of his M40i and then blowing up his X3M. So he would not respond to any of my questions.

And I see CrazyRC is in Airdrie so using Googles hes in Canada IDK if they have OPF there or not. But that was my questions.
Thanks.

Is there any gain with the stock 2020+ 382hp version over the stock 2018/19 355hp car?
