Brake Job M40i - OEM or Performance Aftermarket Pads and Rotors?

Has anyone gone through their first set on brakes on their M40i?

Did you go OEM/Dealer parts/labor or did you get aftermarket parts?

If so, what did it cost?

Do it yourself?

I'm really looking forward to an EBC rotors/pads setup for our SAVs. Not sure else is out there.

Yeah, I'm sure someone's reached the end of their pads somewhere.

I've got over 2k miles on mine so far, and I'm trying to plan to save some time and money down the road. Also, I hate going to my dealership.

I changed all 4 rotors & pads on my 2013 MKS EcoBoost myself. Put on some EBC vented rotors with the red stuff pads. I'm sure it can't be that much harder on the BMW.

I haven't seen any verified aftermarket performance brakes out there yet.

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places?

It would be nice to see stoptech manufacturing slotted or drilled rotors!! I'd replace min even if my brakes are stil 70% good!

I'm following this because I imagine my wife will be going through them fairly often. Didn't opt for that coverage in the maintenance plan.

8000 miles so far. Haven't done it yet, but looked at the setup when swapping winters/summers and it's no more difficult than any other car IMO.

NEW - Found them!
https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automoti...-2017-/1004643

According to EBC, the part numbers listed will fit the G01. However, when I look up them up for Yellow Stuff pads in AutoZone, CarID, or even Amazon, they say they wont fit. I'm guessing if the manufacture says they'll fit, they must fit.

Also found some from Brembo (UK - Late 2017 M40i):
https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/e...ve/000127852-1

Hope it helps anyone that's ready for the service.

I'll follow this thread for sure. Mine have felt spongy/rocking a bit after only 2400 miles. Will have the dealer look at that when I bring it in for the rear passenger noise and a couple other things.

No, you are not looking in the wrong places. It's just that this BMW M Perf X3 size is a STUPID size, why not the 370x30mm that are made by the hundreds of thousands per year? I suspect it a weight reduction cheat to improve acceleration.

Went as far as customizing a 3d strand woven CCB (ceramic gen 3) in 370x30mm, a transformative experience via 35 lbs shaved (close to 300 lbs sprung weight equivalent).

I suspect that the only place- and best place- for this rotor size is BMW OEM; it is indeed superlative grade, and just below ceramic. Seen other failed experiments with stoptech etc, not bad but, two winters and set done (on friend's car) vs near intact Brembos, tells you that Stoptech metallurgy does not come near Brembo.

As for other stuff e.g. EBC, garbage.
