Playing MP3s from a recorded disk has some inconsistancies
We often listen to MP3 formatted audio books on trips. These are recorded on a single DVD-r. The books are often broken down by chapter resulting in 90+ files on the disk. The DVD plays just fine and the IDrive interface sees all files
The issue: When the player/audio system is turned off or the car shut off and then turned on or car restarted the system mostly does not resume where the playing was at shut off. Here is what happens: The file may start up exactly where it was stopped e.g. somewhere in the file/MP3/book chapter. This is what we expect (from our old car c2007 construction behavior) and seldom happens. The playback may skip back to the beginning of that file/MP3/chapter. Not too bad but may mean repeating most of the whole chapter. This is the most usual behavior. Also what can happen is the playback will resume at the beginning of the previous file/MP3/chapter. For example we were listening to chapter 47 and after startup the player starts replaying at the beginning of chapter 46. We can't find any pattern for this behavior. Any ideas? Anyone else have a similar issue but say with MP3 music? Another issue but of less hassle is that album art is only shown for the first file on the disk. Subsequent files for this one book per DVD show no album art. |

My advice- use an iPhone connected via bt or CarPlay instead of the head unit itself as your player. iOS will remember where you were much better, most of the time.
