No pull ahead available. Thats what i wanted to do. But with the crazy cost of registration now i will keep my car till the end on principal. I priced out the car at the dealer a couple months ago and showed the reg cost of 800 bucks. Its not gonna change my life but its crazy how much it is.

You can thank Gov. Moonbeam for sneaking the increased DMV in because if it went for a ballot vote, it would never have passed. Only reason his cronies in the senate went along it was because they were promised and received a huge salary increase. But at least he only has till the end of the year to keep on messing things up.

So we hope/plan to move to SoCal in a few years, but we we know there is going to be some serious sticker shock. I think in VA my reg/dmv fees came to $150.

The only good thing about CA car buying is the doc fee is capped at 80 bucks.

That's only because Sacramento hasn't realized it yet.

CA Fees

Luckily we will be able to vote and repeal both the increased DMV fees and the fuel tax this November. They tried spin this as primarily funding improvements/repairs to our terrible roads. BUT, in reality it was for "transportation projects" which meant diverting money to get people out of their cars. And ultimately the legislature could use it in whatever way they wish.

I for one am not looking forward to having Mr. Newsom as gov. He will make Gov Brown look like a conservative.

Is that tax or dmv registration? I think in TX they tax the msrp of the car even if its a lease and you have to pay up front. Is it like that? I call all of it taxation but is that what it really is.

It's a personal property tax plus registration. They reassess the cars value every year and send you a bill. A new X5 will set you back over $2,000. In the end it doesn't matter, the money is gone. And with the wonderful recent changes in tax laws and the new limitations in state taxes you can deduct, it will cost even more.....and it doesn't matter is it is leased or purchased. They consider a leased car you personal property.

I understand that but tax and registration are different things. I pay taxes on each payment and if you add that up on top of registration is will be around 1500 a year. So thats not far off. As far as Fed tax laws go its on the states now to make some changes. Time to start voting for people that dont want to tax you to death so you wont need those deductions.

Ours arrived at the dealership exactly 5 weeks after start of production (and it went through VPC Oxnard).
