Power when in manual mode..
Anyone noticed on a 335d that when in 'manual mode' i.e using the paddles the torque seems to drop off when compared to full auto mode? It’s much more apparent since the remap but did notice it before. Wonder if this to protect the box against unpredictable behaviour by the driver v's the Auto predicting what it will do?
Interestingly the 335i I had last week was identical in manual or auto mode.. |

I notice that I need to always change up manually myself (in either auto or sport/manual mode) when really gunning the car as it tends to rev too far towards the red before changing itself - and thus into the reduced torque upper band. To get the best from the car I usually hit the 'change up' paddle as the car approaches 4K revs and then - with the delay - it should change before 4.5K. Otherwise, if I leave the car to change up itself, it usually runs right to the 4.5K limit, sits there a while (with no acceleration) and then changes up. I find this very annoying. I noticed this annoying slow change-up to be more pronounced after the remap. One good thing though I suppose is that it forces the driver to be more involved as opposed to just laying there with the right foot lazily planted.
