Alberta winter tire question

So I've noticed the bmw oem winter wheels come with Michelin alpins mounted, but I've always used blizzaks. How much difference is there for snow and ice traction? Anyone used both care to comment?
Thanks

Blizzaks are wintet snow and ice. MP alpins are winter performance. They have different purpose to achieve. Considering Alberta brutal winter, and if your home usually get piled with snow in winter, highly recommend blizzaks over alpins. Aplins do perform well in cold weather but blizzak will get u going on deep snow road condition

The winters in Alberta can be brutal but it depends where you live as in Southern Alberta we don't get near the amount of snow you get out east as it's simply colder especially at night. In Calgary the roads are dry for the majority of the winter so I feel Pilot Alpins PA4 are by far the best tire available for the climate.

Dry road with well plowed and salted with low temp. PA4 is nice
Snow pile no attention from government. Ice combination + cold temp. Get Blizzak.

Blizzak is not offered with 19'' (unless high profile tires).
You will need extra wheels for them.
