Badge placement

I’ve noticed that X3’s in pictures in the US have the badges at the top of the boot lid, but the UK cars have them near the bottom. Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas why they have done this?

Actually they changed placement on all of them a few months back, I believe.

Yes, it changed starting around the end of March/beginning of April.

Ah, ok that makes sense. I wonder why they moved them lower down?

The upcoming G05 doesn't seem to have room above tail lights for any badge so would have to be below, I wonder if they are getting us all used to this placement now?

Mine was build early April and has badges below, also the XDrive badges on front doors have disappeared as well at the same time, on all models except M40 they are now on left side of tail gate, M40 doesn't get any as X3 badge is on that side

It looks silly on the bottom. BMW should have left them where they were initially.

Yeah, I agree. It’s trivial but to me the upper location of the badges is part of the visual brand cue for a BMW X model.

The lower spot looks more like an Infiniti.

I was going to say looks more like a Toyota...

Not a big deal but I did like the higher placement better.

Same here, but I call it, "the minivan location".

The cutoff seems to be end of March builds. My March 15th has it at the top, the cars that showed up at the dealer after that were all on the bottom.

I love the new location. Clean look at the top. Just a matter of taste I guess
