Jalopnik Weighs In...

About to read it now. Assuming there will be a lot of "it's good for what it is, I guess" proclamations, but we'll see!

Check it out here.

On par for Jalopnik reviews. I read them for entertainment mostly not for any actual useful information.

She came across as disinterested in the overall market but has a few positive things to say about it. Oh Well, we love ours! Only thing we can ask for now is the M-sport wheel and we'll be set.

It's because they're "enthusiasts" over there

I don't understand the wheel weight thing, in comfort and sport it feels weightier than my M235i

I loved my m40 until I read this review. Now I hate it.
I was obviously wrong in thinking it was a beautiful looking car that handled great and went like pig snot when you dropped the pedal.

I also thought it was a compact SUV when obviously it’s a crossover because she called it that 14 times. 15 if you count the misspelled one. One for each M badge that she counted.

Also, I can only fit 3 Wheatens in mine when each is properly crated. She fit 3 Berners so I obviously don’t know what I’m doing.

In addition to putting the X3 onto a lease swap site I will be getting rid of my best friend. When he was whipping it around his favorite country road the other day he was impressed with the power and the handling. In reality it’s lumbering so he’s obviously an idiot.

I’m also not going to take anything that Car and Driver says seriously. They said this car was great when it’s clearly not.

I will now search the Jalopnik internet web site to find out what car she likes and will immediately get one of those. Thank you MrPorter. Without you I would be still living in a fantasy world with my crappy crossover.

What a dick:

"Full disclosure: BMW wanted me to drive the 2018 X3 M40i so badly that it lent me one for the weekend with a full tank of gas."

Yeah, BMW is totally jonesing for a blogger to drive the car. Plus a noteworthy tell: she's impressed by a full tank of gas.

"That's about the price you'd pay for a Porsche Macan S."

When I spec'd out a Macan the way I wanted it was not even in the same ballpark as the X3.

Also about the steering: you can't have your cake and eat it too... I wonder how the M40 compares to other SUVs in its class. I must say it is nothing to frown upon, and my daily is an '18 F80 ZCP (which is admittedly a crap M3 if you only read about it on the internet)

This is pretty much how all Jalopnik reviews start (with a disclosure, so you don't think they are paid off by the vehicle makers)

That's probably because Jalopnick is accustomed to getting review cars after everyone else so the gas light is probably on and an oil change is due.

Calm down, its just a joke, they do it on almost every single car review they have, the same line is used a bunch on their website no matter what the brand is. There just be humorous about how they receive their vehicles.

I was curious about that part because I hadn't heard it mentioned before. I chalked it up at the time to it not handling like a wagon like everyone at Jalopnik drones on about incessantly.

I'm just happy she didn't just say it's a wagon raised 3 inches so stupid Americans can call it an SUV. Guess that's just saved for the smaller crossovers for now.

Meh. I just assume all these "late" reviews are pissy because BMW didn't give them early access to a review car, like with the other journalists and bloggers.
