Post The Official E9X OT Thread

A spiritual successor to the E36 OT thread that has helped me out tremendously when I first learned how to work on my own car. Small questions and off topic chatter now have their own, dedicated thread.

How about them sports?

Not to be a party poop and lord knows participation would help the answers to come quicker....but isn't there an OT section already?

I'm going to go ahead and ignore the party pooper above

Anyone else go to the BMW CCA Oktoberfest last week in Pittsburgh? It was a great time!

I have been meaning to become a BMW CCA member but never got around to it.

This guy is a brave soul:

I wish him the best of luck but I think he will be spending the same amount of money as a clean title 335i all said and done.

My $35 335i cluster came in the mail. Hopefully the R270 will wipe the EEPROM chip.

I know that same 'The official E9x OT thread' you're referring.
It's in the Bimmerfest site.

What is the point of this 335i cluster? I know the 330i is lacking an oil temp gauge, is that the whole reason for the swap?

Yes that is the only reason.

Update: I plugged in 335i cluster and the oil temp gauge was acting like the mpg gauge. I am now figuring out what line of code I need to change to get my oil temp gauge to work

I thought the oil temp vs MPG was just an option thing, not a 335 vs 328/330 thing. Hmm.

When you find it let me know. I would like to use my MPG gauge as an oil temp gauge. My bro has a 328i coupe so his has the oil temp and it's so much more useful than the stupid MPG gauge i have. I'm not gonna change my cluster, just need the needle to read the oil temp, I can just guestimate what temp it's at compared to my bro's gauge.

You or someone with a factory oil temp gauge should post their Kombi FSW_PSW.TRC file.

Edit: I found out how to code the cluster but it is beyond my skill level. Looks like I am just going to resell my 335i cluster.
