M40i & M40d Co2 emissions for the UK
The figures on the quotation printout for my M40d, given to me by my dealer, are showing 169g/km which I’m having my doubts about, as another BMW dealer’s website is saying the same car is 205g/km.
Please, can anyone tell me the ‘official’ g/km figures for BOTH the M40i and M40d. I’ve ordered an M40d but am questioning which is going to be the most sensible purchase taking into account GFV, which brings down the monthly’s vs fuel economy, tax and insurance. I know it’s an expensive and exclusive car but I don’t want to spend more than I have to - a fool and his money etc... |

https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_G01 Not sure what your government base the taxes of. Could be according to some other cycle. Bmw measures according to the new WLTP cycle, but are usually converted to EU-cycle for comparison. /n

Interestingly, on the BMW UK configurator the X4 M40d is showing 170-173g/km, which I doubt.
There are no figures shown at all on the configurator for the X3 M40i? |

Here in Sweden they point out carefully on the price list what it is, which I believe our taxes are based on as well. https://www.bmw.se/content/dam/bmw/m...0178078801.pdf 206 for M40i, and 169 for M40d. According to the standard options (tires, etc) offered here. I believe this is the old EU cycle numbers, as requested by our tax rules. /n

What is really confusing is when the full WLTP test results will apply, at the moment although cars have had to be tested under the new rules they can be converted back to old system to give a fair comparison The way I am interpreting it is from 1st September the WLTP test results will have to be used for new cars which maybe what you are seeing with those new figures but as I understand it cars built before that date and sold after 1st September 2018 up until September 2019 can still use the old figures so it may come down to when the car was built? *edit* This is just how I am interpreting it and could be totally wrong and would be worth you checking with dealer before making a decision who I hope would know more? |

My 1200cc, two wheeled GSA is more to tax each year than my wife’s 120d M Sport.. how? I must say, the whole thing it’s all a bit inconsistent and disproportionate. And I’m disappointed with BMW for not putting something on their website to explain the situation. |
