Glacier Silver M40i with tweaks

Hello,

I have the car for a while now and made some things with it so why not to post it.

I am currently waiting for a set of HRE's so in the meanwhile I bought an AEZ Crest Dark in 20". Ive played with the tires a little and now running 245/50R20 and 275/45R20 and I think this is biggest tire you can fit to the car. Ive had some rubbing in the front so I put there 15mm spacers and it is OK now.

Did you _really_ post a photo (#2) of you driving while texting?

Great photos, what did you take them with, and how did you edit?

Did you paint/vinyl the front grills? Or are they the ones IND sell? Either way, they look great!

Haha probably was using his phone as a remote for his camera?

The silver and black does look nice.

Do you have a side photo showing wheels?

Find me a beauty shot _anywhere_ of a "professional driver" doing this.

Sorry, but by blacking out the grills and other pieces of trim, that just looks like a normal X3 now.

It may to a novice or non-fan...but it has a totally different appearance than the base X3 in stance, side moldings, etc. Not everyone likes the cerium gray that leaves fingerprints etc. And with some colors (Blue and the graphite mainly) it looks great. But if you have gloss black moldings and gray accents and then want different wheels...chrome will look dumb and black won't look that great either without the rest being black. Some people are picky about it all matching, to each his own. Mine is Alpine White and I've changed all the gray to black, including the M40i badging on rear with removal of X3 on the left. In my opinion, AW is an especially bad look with the gray...but again, to each his own. I didn't buy the car so that everyone would know I've got an M40i...I bought it for performance and the general look/utility.
To be honest, if it looks like a base X3 to people that don't follow cars...so be it. It'll be a sleeper that people will wonder about when I take off from a light.

Looks really nice! Can you tell me how you blacked out the front boomerang pieces or where you bought them? I ordered all my parts (mirror caps etc) as original BMW parts and had them painted black by IND. However, they did not have a boomerang set they could order...kept saying backordered etc. Now it appears you have to replace that entire piece surrounding it as well. Is that what you did?

HornMfan,

I understand this thread is about changing trim pieces, but can you share with me the details on your wheels? And, are they 20" or 21"? I'm going to get a set of Winter wheels/tires (I live in Ohio - lots of snow/ice the past three Winters) and I really like yours. I ordered 20" wheels for my M40i.

Congrats Holly on your new ride! These are 20" wheels, Savini. To be honest, they've been a nightmare to deal with, not entirely sure if it's because the wheel shop I bought them thru screwed up or Savini...but I think it's both. They were not crazy pricey though at $1600 for the staggered set.

Whole car is done in wrap. Grill, sides, everything. It is easiest and cheapest way to do it.

Those are AEZ wheels in 20". I will have a 20" for the winter and 21" for the summer. Right now my HRE just came so I am in full summer mode
