Entire front map light assembly creaks

Anyone else having this issue?

The whole assembly creaks and cracks with the smallest amount of pressure or while going over lane dividers. Even just lightly pressing the button to turn on the lights makes a horrible noise.

The dealer says this is normal, but I think that's ridiculous. I'm trying to just take the entire assembly out, but I can't figure out how to do that without breaking clips off. Any advice?

Pick your battles wisely young Jedi... if you decide to yank out the overhead assembly you will be opening a can of worms. There is not much you can do with plastic pieces and clips that may be affected by heat or changes in temperature hence the creaking noise.

Let the dealer deal with this one. That is what the warranty is for. If the overhead map light assembly breaks up in 2 or badly bend a clip(s) while they remove it, it will be 100% on them, not you.

Bitch and complaint or take it into a different dealer.

Just my humble 2 pence..

Unfortunately, there isn't anything regarding the map lights on that thread. Thanks though.

Yeah, you definitely have a point. The next closest dealer is about 45 minutes away, so I'll have to take it in sometime.

Do you know what the warranty is for things like this? 1 year? If so, I might just wait and see if anything else pops up and have them fix them all at once.

Your new car warranty is 4 years or 50K miles, whichever occurs first.
