newbie from the UK

Hi everyone, just joined the forum and have a question.
I ordered a X3 M40i in the middle of May with the following,
Individual seats, HUD, folding mirrors, 718 wheels, adaptive suspension, acoustic glass, tow bar, sun protection.
All wrapped in carbon black.

The dealer said late August to middle of September delivery back in May, but now says it will be in the middle of October.
I'm not worried about delivery time, so my question is will she be MY2018 or a MY2019 model?

Have you been told a build date?
If she hasn’t been built yet then chances are she’ll be a MY19.
I also ordered end of May and am also expecting delivery in October - mine’s a MY19.

Thank you verysideways,

No build date as yet I'm seeing the dealer in August so I may get an update. All he told me last week was he was updating me to say the delivery date had been put back to the middle of October.

Can't wait, although I've read on here that the BHP has gone down to 354? some sites say 360 some say 355 some say its 20 more bhp than the 140i. Not sure who is right.

Has your dealer mentioned a price rise?, I spoke with mine as I'm part exing and I want the same price as contracted at this time he says they will honour it.

Congrats on the order

The BHP thing seems confusing, I always thought they were the same thing but doesn't seem the case, some sites list HP some BHP and some PS, BMW in UK only list in HP or Kw, HP has gone from 360 down to 354, in BHP terms that is 355 down to 349, Performance has stayed the same and I assume it's down to the PPF but not sure

M140i had 340hp which is where the 20 more figure came from but not sure if that will go down as well?

When I ordered a 30d in May, my dealer had a slot and told me build week 30, delivery end of September. I asked again in end of June, and he said the same thing.

It seems like MY2018 or MY2019 doesn't make much difference here, since the build date and date put into traffic are more important. I don't know if UK are more similar to US...

Best way is to keep checking your build week with the dealer. Awesome spec and car choose there... and nice username

Build week 30 is this week. It'll be the last week of MY2018 production.

360 PS, 355hp
MY2019 are apparently losing 6hp but gaining m performance diff as standard
(for the UK at least)
Price rise was back in june, but your price should have been locked in when you ordered (same as me).
The waiting is excruciating isn’t it?

yes, I've not had this level of anticipation since waiting for the delivery of a RS Turbo back in the day.

Build started today week 36 just as the dealer said, not sure of build time? Anyone know? and it should be here mid October.
Looking at the shipping times it maybe late October, unless BMW use another company? and that's if it is being made in the USA otherwise I have no clue.
I read somewhere on here that all M40i's are being made in America as that is where the majority of sales will be for the X3 with the B58 engine.

That's great news, the end is coming near, yes all M40i's that come to UK are made in Spartanburg, I'm not sure if they are made anywhere else for other regions though

Feels like a long time ago now but my build date was 6th April and it arrived at dealership in UK on 9th May and I had it on 15th

I may have been lucky and it was shipped really quick but I was always told to allow 6 weeks for shipping

Welcome! Great sounding car. You will love it!

There aren't many of them on the road in the UK.

I got the 3rd email (Build) today at about midday.
Our cars may be ship-mates!

verysideways, looks like they will be ship mates as they should be finished this week and the next ship is on the 22nd from Charleston arriving 13/10 here. Mine is due for handover during week 42.
I hope they haven't fooled with the DNA of the car by messing with the the particular filter and the fueling/map of the car, hope it still burps and bangs. Can't see the diff making it feel much different in day to day driving, but I'm glad it was delayed just to get that fitted.
Shame the road tax has gone up, hey ho you can't win them all.

It looks like the Port of Charleston is pretty much open as of today... here is the web page the port is using to post its current status...

Have you checked your VIN at mdecoder? Mine appeared earlier today which means it's passed QC

My car has finally left the factory and is in transit, so by my and dealers reckoning I should have my grubby little paws on it around 25 October, 5 months after I signed my life away.
I'm now busy going through the accessories

I keep thinking I see them but they always turn out to be diesel M Sports with the same wheels as mine. Only seen one other actual M40i.
