Production Begins

This morning our 2019 30i status on MyBMW changed to "production begins" and we now have the VIN. Anyone else? Our order was placed on July 6. Anyone further along in the process? We are hoping for delivery by Labor Day.

If you follow along the 2019 order sticky thread, some of us went into production last week, right on schedule.

I just bought July 28...that mean I'll wait closer to mid/end Sep?

When you order doesn’t matter so much if the dealer had swapped you into an already scheduled allocation. Get your production number and ask BMW genius for your build week.

Saw your post and it made me curious about my 2018 order/build. Last Monday (23 JUL) "Track My BMW" listed it as "Production Begins" and had the left three of the status bullets colored in. Same for today. I decided to call the Genius Hotline, provided the VIN, and was told it should be completed 1 AUG. Don't know how long it'll take to reach my dealer on the West Coast, but hopefully late AUG delivery.

I'm slated to be done by Friday. The car only has to come down to Florida. I'm holding out hope that I have it for my trip to the keys on 8/24!

Is it true I have to keep calling the geniuses for up to date info or is tracking in MyGarage the same info?

"My Garage - Track My BMW" was woefully out of date, in my case. Geniuses have up-to-date info.

I've noticed that both the "Track My BMW" and a phone call with Genius have my order at the same stage. Earlier when I spoke with Genius, they stated that the vehicle will jump from "Production Begins" to "Final Assembly" in one step. With vehicle going to "Ready for Transport" on 8/3.

Same! Can't wait! I'm praying by some miracle this car arrives before the 10th in FL and I can simply turn in my current lease (up on the 6th, but apparently there is a slight grace period before you have to start paying) and grab the first BMW I completely built to order (4th overall)!

If the dealer gets tired of you calling, the second best method is to call the BMW number for the automated production status. It's not quite up-to-date (dealer is still best), but it's not bad.

It's not unusual for delivery to the US west coast to take an additional 3-4+ weeks after the car has been built.

My X3 was delivered to the dealership in 5.5 weeks after the order was turned in. The dealer had one open slot and I got it.

Don’t call the dealer if you want my opinion. Call the 1800 number. Information off a day will not kill ya, but inability to get 1500 APR credit will :P

If I was the dealer I would know your desperation and would fail to offer any further credits on finance or lease.

That is very similar to my order which I documented in a another thread. I don't have possession of the vehicle, yet, but I am told it will be available for pick up on Monday.

That did not happen with my order which I posted here. Mine went through these phases: Production begins -> Entering assembly line -> Assembly in progress -> Quality check -> Final assembly -> Ready for transport.

All of those phases took a total of 14 days.

The phone status and the web status seemed to be in agreement every time I checked both.

Congrats...Its always a fun experience picking a new set of wheels. Which dealership up here did you go thru?

BMW of Bellevue which is probably in your back yard. User wannax3 also ordered his from BMW of Bellevue.

I realize that the so called BMW Geniuses are just call takers and that there are times they just say something to say something.
