5th Gear 5000 RPM Limp Mode Service Engine Soon

Hi guys I have a 135i, I drove my car a few times and I accelerate and hit about 5000 rpms in 5th gear and the car starts to hesitate. Then the service engine soon came on, when I shut off the car it goes away. Now today I did it a few times to try to figure out what is wrong. The last time the service engine soon light stayed on when I shut off the car. Has anyone had anything like this happen to there 335s. I am going to bring in the car Monday but I was wondering if anyone had any kind of ideas. Thank you for you help. I do have a stage 2 DINAN tune but I did have this problem before the tune, it is worse now.

The car starts fine I am going to take it to BMW. The car drives fine until I am in at least 4th gear around 4800 rpm.

my thoughts, if you had the problem before, you should have had it checked into before getting the Flash...my .02

You better hope BMW doesn't have a problem with the upgrade, they do have the right to not warranty the car. Lets hope they take care of it, from all the reading I have done, it does sound like the hpfp....Good Luck !!!

My car has been starting a little hard now that I think about it, after reading this is sounding like a fuel pump issue

Please report back what is found. I agree it sounds like a fuel pump. I cannot believe this issue is still around.

It's a known fact that 335i owners who type in ALL CAPS have more HPFP failures than other forum members who know how to use a shift key.

You are correct. It will go faster than that in 4th. But that was not the question. The question was how fast is 5000 RPM in 5th gear.

4th gear @ 5000 RPM = 101 MPH
4th gear @ 7500 RPM = 152 MPH

5th gear @ 5000 RPM = 121 MPH
5th gear @ 7500 RPM = 181 MPH

Now unless the car has a primary reduction ratio, those numbers are correct.

I would tell you to go "check again" but clearly you are not able to do that or you would have not made that statement.
