Do you like Map Switching?

I installed my Procede v3 this weekend (upgrade from v2) and everything went fine. Piece of cake actually. I've played with the map switching, and personally, I would rather just have my car default to map 2, the higher powered map. When I have time, I will probably just remove the remote map switcher and use map 2 as the default. What are you guys doing?

I just keep the remote in my ashtray and turn on the high boost map when I need it. I personally like to use the low boost map for daily driving and then switch to high boost if I feel like pushing it. I dont see a need to push the turbos to 15psi all the time.....

I don't know anything about map 1 or map 2 but I found out something I didn't know before I installed Rick's boost gauge. Unless a Mustang pulls up revving its motor, I'm almost never on boost. And those rare times when I need to gun it around town I usually boost no more than about 5 psi. A collateral benefit is that I get really good gas mileage around town.

Yeah, I know, I drive like a granny. I also know now that Kyle drives like a bat out of hell.

Thanks Mike, speaking of gas mileage the best I get is 21mpg on mixed driving. I am thinking about driving it on the valet map for a week to see if I can get it to go up to 25mpg or so....

What's up with boosting 15psi all the time? I use the most aggressive tune available in all of my cars, but when I'm just 'daily driving' I might not have any boost on despite of running aggressive tune. I adjust the boost by throttle. It is quicker to apply boost that way than open the ashtray etc...

The only reason to switch map would be nanny on/off, or for different octane. But not for boost.

Does V3 retain the valet option? If so, can that be used with the map switcher? Basically, I want to know if I can start the car in valet, then later switch to Map 2 via the keyfob or homelink.

I like the map switching. I would suggest that you do not un-install it as Shiv has already said that he will be coming out with maps that default to map 2 in the near future.

The answer is Yes...there is a Valet function (if you set it in the PROcede software) , and no... you need to stop and re-start the car and rev past the valet rpm setting to activate the maps. Shiv mentioned a firmware is in the works so you don't have to do the re-start. My opinion is the low boost map (doomsday stage 1) is not low enough. There is minimal difference between the doomsday low and high boost maps at this point. So the map switching doesn't do much for me at this point.

One thing I'd like to see is a user selectable Traction Nanny feature which can be activated/deactivated on the "fly" independant of any map's software but something tells me it will always be part of the map selected and isn't the current version really "Launch Control" rather than a traction nanny feature ???

Another question is - will we be able to load individual high and low boost maps for map 1 and map 2 to cater for different situations...eg, Street + race gas maps together - or are we asking for trouble by doing this.

I love map switching. I have no need to have 15psi at my disposal at the time. When i'm feeling lucky, I switch to map 2. But just around town, in the heat, running errands, the low boost map gives a nice warm feeling that im doing something to protect the longevity of my purchase.

Unhook the map switching connector and jumper between the red and purple leads and you will always get Map 2.

Screw that, if I get anywhere over 15 MPG around town I am very disappointed with my driving style.

Whatever it default to before the battery was unplugged. It is just using a DI; Grond on the input = Map 1, 12 VDC on the input = Map2.

IMO, I would rather have Map 1 being a the high boost map and Map 2 being a race map.

Shiv advised that the map switcher should be installed...

The new maps are somewhat overdue, but supposedly everything being discussed about what we need will be addressed with the new maps Shiv has discussed.
