Forge 335i wastegate actuators
Can Forge make some nice and high-quality wastegate actuators for the 335i ? In case they can, how hard would it be to replace them ?
Don't repair - improve . Thanks, Eugen P.S. My car has no wastegate actuator problem. PM to Mike at Forge sent. |

I agree. Though my car is on new turbos with the new wastegate actuator, sometimes the wastegate problem may not necessarily be because of the actuator itself. For mine it was the wastegate valve that was loose that can and only be solved by changing the whole turbo together with the exhaust manifold that houses the wastegate valve internally.

If Forge is unable to meet this request. You should probably try a turbo builder/rebuilder like Forced Performance or Deadbolt enterprises. Both of these companies have done extensive work on MHI turbos.

I've used FP several times in the past and was very satisfied on the products and services rendered, but I can say deadbolt does offer some services that FP does not. For one, they offer thermo coating and, they offer life time free rebuilds....that alone is a pretty compelling reason to go with them.
Here's deadbolt's site... http://www.boostplanet.com/

Hello gang, just chiming in to say that we can do this easily. Does anyone have a set of stockers that can be used as a starting point? Feel free to email us at sales@forgemotorsport.com to discuss or volunteer a set. We'll of course reward the person that supplies us with the units with a set of the forge units.

Sorry I haven't been on the forum in a while guys.
We can definitely look at doing this, but it requires having samples of OEM actuators off of the car to be able to replicate them. Does anyone have a spare set? Taken off when their car was at the dealership having the turbos replaced or something? Pricing will vary based on the complexity of the units. Anywhere from $150 per unit ($300 per pair) up to $190 per unit ($380 per pair). I had initially thought about doing this quite a while ago, based on the issues people were having with the OEM wastegate flappers failing, but this was prior to any concrete evidence as to where the failures were actually occuring. If it was the actuators, than making replacements made perfect sence, but since it doesn't appear to be the OEM unit failling, I don't want to offer replacements that might exacerbate the problem. We can definitely still look into, however. |
