It's blue. And mine.
My route home was a surface street that is never a quick drive, so driving impressions have to wait, for the most part. Certainly more nimble than my 340, a bit more rough on bumps than Adaptive Suspension Sport Mode (but really not bad), and so far, with only one drive done on a bad street, I'm in love.
My dealership folk were fantastic. Waiting for me at the dealership: |

Oh, my partner is the opposite of a car guy. He likes the car but asked "what's that big thing hanging down? It looks like something that should be milked..."
Thus we have independent confirmation that the muffler looks like cow udder. |

Probably from far away it's more noticeable. I saw one in person just days ago and standing next to it i didnt notice the muffler at all until i got down low to check it out. Easy to "fix" though i reckon.

Our driveway is a bit steep. He was looking at it from a ways down the driveway. On the plus side, the car makes it up the driveway. I was concerned.

Looking good! You should bring it to MotorFest on Saturday and park it next to my 2018 LBB so everyone can compare.

Congrats! Looks bad ass!
There is no question the muffler looks terrible... I saw a black one this weekend and really couldn’t believe how huge the muffler is. I guess BMW really tried to get it to sound better at the sacrifice of looks. |

And for a bit more fun, I’m sure folks outside of Australia will find this fascinating. Or weird. Or both.

Ok, first quick impressions after two drives:
The drive home from the dealership last night was, as I mentioned, a long run down a very busy street. The ride was a bit harsh, and I was running in "efficient" mode for the throttle. I was really surprised at how civilized the car was in low-speed traffic. The DCT is interesting. There's a lot more engine braking available than I expected, and with everything in wimpy mode the transmission was keeping the RPM's really low. I'm pleased that the car seems like it won't be annoying when stuck in bad traffic. Then this morning: My morning drive is down some country roads and then on the freeway for a bit. There are some nice curves, and you can get some speed going if you want to here and there. I'm pretty tired today (didn't get to sleep easily last night) so I held back quite a bit. I made the run in manual mode and that was plenty of fun. In its lowest setting, the DCT seems like it shifts a bit slower than I was expecting. On the way home today, I'll take that out of wimp mode and see how it does. Ride harshness resolved - well, somewhat as expected, it's not that harsh if you don't have the tires set at 44 lb/ft. I will never understand why dealerships do this. I can't even call out my dealership on it because every single one I've dealt with for 25+ years has constantly set the tires so high that you might as well be riding on rocks. The car rides beautifully for a sport-oriented suspension vehicle. The way this car took the curves this morning, albeit at moderate speeds, was exactly what I needed to feel it do. Just fantastic. More thoughts as they occur to me and when I get to drive more! |
