dme swap....?

Hey guys i tried searching and figuring this out but could not get any answers heres the question. can the dme be swapped from a 81 to a pre 81. for example if i know someone who has an older 335i and is willing to swap would it work.? is this a stupid question..

dme's are coded for specific VIN's so no. Even if you did get the v80 reprogrammed, it still might not work.

but it isnt the true powerful v3 its watered down. im waiting till we get some real results from the new dme with out throwing the codes or whatever i read the doomsday v3 im going to wait.

I didn't hear about any codes, but if waiting while stock is what you want than go for it.

yea im going to work on cosmetics for now. i am out a lot of money because of the down payment on the new car.
