FED UP with my 2006 E90 sunroof

I've been having issues with my 2006 325xi Sedan's sunroof. When I press the button to close it - it closes half way and then opens up again.

I've brought the car in FOUR times already - and it still has not been completly fixed. What would you guys do in my situation?

Oh yeah, I've also brought this car in for other issues like the door handles, airbags, tires, radio, etc...I'm real sick of this...

There are a couple of things you can do, you can ask and speak to a service manager or request to have a bmw factory rep to look at your car since this is your fourth time.

No one should have to go through that. If it is the same dealer that's working on your car, make sure to get a service director involved. If problem still persist, be sure to also contact BMWNA to file a complaint.

Have you also tried a different bmw dealership? That might be another option as well. Good luck to you.

SOunds like the Sunroof Switch is bad and/or the rails need lubricated. I had the exact same problem on my Audi S4 and Passat W8. Both times it was a bad switch...

Cheers,

Chuck

do you try to pull the sun roof shade while the sunroof is closing? if so.. dont. Just wait till it closes then pull the shade.

Same issue happened to me, my dealer replaced the entire sunroof assembly under warranty. Now I can tilt my sunroof without having the shade retract 1/4 of the way

Yep. I tried that and I've tried a lot of other things. The dealership has also tried numerous things.

Had a similar problem here took it in I believe it was 3 to 4 times as well. Replaced the entire system and then it still kept doing it and finally I don't know what they did but it stopped. Not completely mind you, it happened once more since the repair. But otherwise it's fine. I even contact BMWNA cause apparently no seems to know what the issue is. Hope they figure it out.

Sorry to hear about your problems man.........

I'm sure you knew what you were getting into when you bought a BMW.

I took my car to the dealer for 6-7 issues......good thing we have this thing called WARRANTY.

I don't know what I'm going to do in about 3,000 miles when my Warranty expired.......

BMW needs to hire some quality control freak to check their products........

I wonder if allowing customers to custom order their cars has anything to do with it. What I've noticed is that with Japanese automakers who option their cars according to regions have higher quality because it's less complex. It's easier to achieve superior quality when you've become efficient in producing certain parts rather than customizing many parts.

This is an excellent point. I think you may be on to somthing. But as far as the sunroof goes - they should have that down!

this happens to my 06 e90 also.......
i thought it was anti-trap, but i started putting my hand on the glass and pushing back as hard as i could and it kept on pushing, so it's not that. it has made me wonder if the sensor is bad? usually a sensor for anti trap would measure the voltage for the motor - more amp draw = more resistance or something. i'm past my 50k miles, but i have an extended warranty (3rd party, not through bmw) and the fine print is really unclear, but i think is attempting to say that it only covers the motor for the sunroof. i havent followed up past that.
