What they made "custom couplers" and didn't even put a lip on them as is a standard when working with silicone tubing and clamps?

push the connectors all the way in
i installed mine today and had similar fit problems -- I just pushed the connectors all the way in, and made sure that the filters were on the wide section of tubing and then used a ratchet drive to tighten. You can do a few runs and then re-examine to make sure that all fitings are tight and ther are no air leaks - that could case a power loss!

I did but the couplers are at an angle at the end that goes into the cone filter and I even used a ratchet to tighten the clamps but i didn't want to strip the clamps out. I had them on good and I took a short test drive and came back and the one closest to the firewall came off! The oil in the cone filter is causing it to slide off. I guess I could remove the oil on the inside of the rubber flange so it would stick better? I put my stock air filter back on until I can find a solution.

I'm sure they'll have a Filter v2 upgrade soon.

-The filters should connect straight onto the coupler. Maybe try removing them and connect them (filter to coupler) straight on outside the engine bay. It's a bitch to get them back on when already connected, but it can be done. |

Yeah, I tried that but it still slipped off. The front one stayed. I gotta a 800 mile trip this weekend so I'm gonna leave them off and stick w the stock filter until i get back.

Attach the filter to the coupler first. You'll have more leverage to clamp the filter down tight on the coupler, plus make them sit on there straight. Then attach the coupler to the intake hoses. I would also try the hairspray or scuff the coupler up with some sand paper. I believe the anodizing plus filter oil is what makes them so darn slick.

Im having this problem as well. The oil from the filter and the slickness of the coupler makes me wonder if they will fall out during hard acceleration.

Do some arm exercises or find somebody with upper body strength to tighten the clamps for you. j/k
I had zero problems with the install. I find that you should tighten the clamps and then pull on the cones to ensure you can't get them to budge. The force you use in an attempt to pop them off has to be greater than the acceleration of the car. Well, it's worked for me anyway. YMMV. |
