That's way too blue to be carbon black even under those lights. Not sure what it is but I'm sure someone will come in and identify that color.

That looks so different from all the other Phytonic blue models in the photo shoots. I would expect it to be lighter under the lights. It even looks darker than the Phytonic blue in the cloudy day pics.

I think it's Carbon Black. My CB looks very blue under intense lighting.

Possible I guess. My friend had a carbon black M3 and although it had blue tones to it, in bright sunlight, it wasn't that blue.

To me, it looks closer to tanzanite than carbon black, but it's not purple enough.

These grills look worse and worse up close...not sure why they did it.
Chrome exacerbates it.

Indeed looks like Carbon Black (CB). Looking at the other pics online, Phytonic Blue (PB) is lighter [and has a different hue of course]. I use the M-brakes, the laser-light blue pointers and the BMW roundel blue as color hints to tell these two shades of blue apart from each other.

Both CB and PB look dramatically different under direct (sun)light and have hue-shifts. The BMW website doesn't do the colors full justice either - which makes this harder. PB almost looks like a fluorescent color in the online configurator.

I believe it is carbon black even though it looks more like azurite black. Carbon black is the signature color for M performance.

I'll verify tomorrow when I fly down to Paris for the auto show.
