Build Progress
I entered the assembly line today. Here's the full timeline so far:
8/16/18: Placed order at dealer for week 40 (10/1/18) production slot. 8/21/18: Changed interior trim to 4KT Anthracite-Brown Poplar Wood. 9/5/18: Added 4M5 Leather Dashboard. 9/26/18: BMW Genius advised production slot was pushed out to week 42. Also learned that my slot, when given to the dealer originally, had been a week 36 allocation. 9/28/18: Entered production, VIN assigned. Seems in line with a week 40 build. 10/5/18: Entered assembly line.

I was in the assembly line yesterday and today in quality check. It seems to be moving very quickly--moreso than my 540 which was delivered in December. I wonder there whether the reporting of information was just more delayed, though.

Interestingly, my CA advised when I placed the order that there was no way at all for me to track progress. To those of you with cars on order, congratulations! I share your excitement!

I placed my order Sept 7th and it is still waiting for production. How do you know what week it is scheduled for? I didn't see anything on my paperwork.

Your CA will be able to tell you what week the allocation is for.

Congrats! Hopefully they are able to continue to stick to scheduled build week. I am week 43. Been sitting in same spot on My BMW tracker. Just waiting my turn.
Just received VIN today. No idea how long until assembly, but some progress. Last edited by CBx540i; 10-05-2018 at 07:09 PM.. |

I ordered my 2019 X5 xDrive40i on Wednesday. This will be my first time owning a BMW as my last 4 German cars have all been Audi sedans - a mix of S4's and A6's. My dealer was able to modify an unsold allocation in status 112 - scheduled for daily, allowing me to have a week 44 build. My CA was extremely helpful in producing a vehicle inquiry report showing me specifics that I am unable to see in MyGarage.
I built mine as follows: X5 xDrive40i Mineral White Metallic Black Vernasca Leather xLine - Aluminum Dark Mesh Interior Trim Convenience Package Premium Package 2 Parking Assistance Package Executive Package 21" Y-spoke style 744 w/performance run flat Heated Front Seats Armrests and Steering Wheel Harmon Kardon Surround Sound System There is a lot of confusion on both mine and my CA's part regarding the PP2-Parking Assistance Package. In the order guide, the two are combined. As of my build being modified and finalized on Wednesday, you have to be sure to add the Parking Assistance Package separate from PP2, as ZPP is not an option. The net price total is the same, and keen attention to detailed saved this from being an issue at delivery. |

Ok, I’m confused by the discussion on Parking Assistance. My build has 5DN (Parking Assistant Plus) as park of ZPP Premium Package. It also has Rear View and Surround View.
So what’s in PP2 that is separate? |

Both of these are included in ZPP Premium Package. Pardon that I don't even see PP2 anywhere in the Ordering Guide.

ZP2, Premium Package 2, not indicated on order or pricing guides, nor on the configurator, is now the go-to for Premium Package. Unfortunately this excludes 5DN and ZX3, which are combined under ZPK. It is necessary to look at the detailed order to ensure you have the Parking Assistance Plus, if you want it. ZP2 drops to $1,350 and ZPK is $700, so the net pricing effect is $0. I hope this provides more clarity.

Folks who were able to order earlier, had the ZPP option. it looks like that has now been split out.
If you had ZPP, I'd think you get ZPP (I do). It lists all the options in my build. I did hear that some builds were modified because of supply issues for some parts. Could be related. |

You can see below how ZPK has now been separated from what was ZPP. In order to include all original elements of ZPP, ZP2 and ZPK have to be combined.

Interesting. There were comments around that there were indeed supply issues with some of this stuff, so perhaps that is why they broke it out. Seems mine is being built as expected.

Thank you for the posting. I went back to my order from early September, and the order shows the old ZPP.

I was told 5DN was an issue when I placed my order, about 4 weeks ago. I could live without 5DN but wanted all the other premium features. From what I understand it's a supply level issue meaning they can only build so many cars with 5DN per week. This change probably allows them to take more orders for those that still want heads up and wireless charging but can live without parking assist features.

UPDATE
The configurator has now been updated to reflect the aforementioned separation of Parking Assistance Plus from the Premium Package.
Thankfully BMW didn't make this any more expensive. Those who don't want the added features of Parking Assistance Plus can save $700.
