The BMW X7 will officially be announced on October 16, 2018. To coincide with that, BMW will be offering an X7 Pre-Order program beginning the same day.

Pre-ordering will require a $1,000 deposit. On Oct. 16 customers will be able to place an order for their BMW X7 online through any participating BMW Dealer by depositing $1,000 through bmwusa.com.

BMW NA will reserve a limited number of units from early production exclusively to satisfy these pre-orders which will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-serve basis. These units will be treated outside the regular allocation process which will begin later in Q4.

Order Guides will also be made available on October 16.

Here are the steps to the pre-order process:

1. Visit bmwusa.com on October 16 and choose a participating BMW Dealer. Complete a pre-order form with your information and submit a $1,000 deposit via one of the payment methods accepted by the Dealer selected.
2. You'll receive an order Confirmation ID and your payment will be submitted directly to the Dealer selected.
3. The selected Dealer will then contact you to build and price the vehicle.
4. Once an agreement on the details of the sale is finalized, the Dealer will submit your X7 order into BMW Order Bank.

Dealer must refund the client in the event of a cancelation.

the grill gets a lot of hate on the forums. I was lucky enough to preview the X7 in the flesh with no camo at Monterey Car Week last month.

I have to say, the grill looks perfect with the new body and bumper design. You will not be disappointed.

The excitement is palpable!!! I will probably sleep in front of my dealer for the entire week before to make sure I am first in line. It doesn't even matter if I lose my job or my family leave me. I've been waiting for this moment all my life....u can be mine X7! All mine!

Aesthetic understatement is only for losers and great art withstanding the whims of time. The X7 therefore requires a larger grill (with shutters or solid backing necessary block off the larger grill) and the fake exhaust outlets of the Audi SQ5. Additional oversized emblems would also help disassociate the brand from design integrity.

I'm sorry but what is the point of this process? I order cars for clients every month. Are they making this car limited on production where people will need to submit a deposit to reserve it? Makes no sense. Maybe to build some hype?

Make sense to show the final product first and then ask for the money, doesn't it??

I don't understand the confusion. Clearly this is a 50/50 sales/marketing strategy to build hype/excitement and potentially lock in some early sales. All this process does is allow a customer early access to the X7 before dealerships get their allocation - meaning they will be one of the first people to receive the X7 before everyone else does. Instead of manufacturing HEA models just for dealerships, I would imagine BMW would be extending this to manufacturer some advanced models for those who put down an early deposit.

Yeah, I don't get it. Don't have the have the very first model off the line. Gonna wait to see final specs, pictures, pricing, etc, before even CONSIDERING the X7.
