Wheel Bearing Caps

So I managed to get my wheel centre caps off with duct tape with the purpose of checking for the dreaded rust!!

Thankfully there is no rust and all 4 hub bolt areas are fully greased which is good news but I want to fit the wheel bearing caps as a precaution.

With the centre caps off can I fit these through the gap or is it a wheels off job?[IMG][/IMG]

Not sure how effective they will be or what they would add. There is no way of dirt to get in as is. If anything I would say they would prevent the moisture escaping. Surely just greasing it regularly will do the job?

Been looking for these. Where did you get these?
I don't think you will able to get these on without removing the wheels first.
It's quite difficult to remove the centre caps without damaging them. I would take the wheels off then push them out from the inside.
I greased my hubs with some ceramic grease hopefully this will stop the rust getting any worse and prevent the hubs seizing.

Dirt doesn't get in but water does and the hubs centres start to rust.

This was more of a type of prevention rather than a complete cure...BMW did start to put these on various series but not with any consistency from what I have found on the forums...if regular greasing is the way to go that's what I'll do

I agree I think it would be a wheels off job. I believe BMW sell these for £16'ish for 4. It not 100% sure as I have not bought any however I think this is the part number Wheel Bearing Cap - 33406864028

Not really, I followed this method and had all 4 of mine off in 5 minutes

If you want to fit the caps you have to take the wheels off to do them.
