Run-Flat Tire Repair Advice

Hi there,

Please I need some advice regarding one of my tires that got a puncture on the thread (a nail). For the time being I'm controlling the pressure on a daily basis, but not sure how to proceed:

Should I take the car to the dealership? (probably a 3-week wait) or,
Can I take it for repair at any tire shop?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

I've had 2 punctures on rft's in the last 2 months (separate vehilces).

Both times went to a reputable tire shop, charged me $50 each time. No issues with either puncture patch.

Head to a tire shop. They will fix it properly. If you go to the dealer they will want to sell you a new tire. I had one of mine patched properly with no issues. Good luck

Thank you both for your prompt advice!

I'll head to a good tire repair shop, not only the dealership will me wait for weeks, but I was also worried about their eagerness to just replace....

Cheers!

I’ve had run flats repaired several times in years past. You should know that some shops will no longer repair them. The rule of thumb is that if the puncture is in the thread groove, it is patchable however if it is close to the side wall, it might not be a safe repair.

Thank you Bmtespar, I'll keep that in mind!
