So, I'll cover a few highlights and some things that will have to grow on me.
Here's what I drove: X5 40i xLine Phytonic Blue Cognac Vernasca Leather Fineline Stripe Brown Wood Trim Convenience Pkg 19" All season tires Power & Ride: You definitely feel the extra horsepower and torque. It was very quick. I'm sure it will be even more fun to drive in the Msport version. The ride was extremely quiet and smooth. The smooth ride was definitely due to the all season tires. I'm sure the Msport will have a much sportier and stiffer ride(which is fine with me :-) ). It's a shame that you won't be able to get the DHP in the 40i. The Msport will need it to achieve the smooth ride like the xLine. Don't get me wrong, the Msport ride will be amazing, but you need to have DHP to help with the more aggressive tire set up. Especially if you drive on I-4 here in Orlando that is always under construction and feels like you're driving over a constant pothole patch!!!! Interior: I noticed the gain in width immediately. This came with sport seats which were very comfortable. More comfortable than my sport seats in my '16 Msport. The fit and finish were great with one exception. It's probably a personal preference, but the dash and door panels have a little less texturing and looks cheap to me. After seeing it up close, i'd opt to upgrade to the leather dash for sure. The texturing in my '16 never bothered me but this one does. The center controls for the A/C are a little difficult to read. They just seem small. One thing for sure that I don't like is that they took away the SYNC button! It's now been buried in the MENU under settings somewhere. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I use this a lot and it's now going to require extra steps fumbling through the menu to sync up or un-sync my AC! The main display with spedo and tach has a lot of great info and is beautiful. However, I would like to see them add a macro for a traditional spedo and tach needles. I don't care for the way this one looks, but i'm sure a lot of you love it. Pure personal taste. I can't wait to see the Msport that comes in next week and drive so i can compare the looks and the ride. I hope this helps a little. Let me know if you have any questions!! It's an amazing SAV!!

Thanks for your impressions. How did the exhaust sound both inside and outside at cruise or upon acceleration?
So I assume you drove it at Fields BMW? I'd like to check out the M Sport as well so if you have more info on when they said it'd be in, please let us know. Thanks again! |

Just remember, the new iDeive lets you control virtually everything with your voice! I’m fairly certain you can just say “Hey BMW, sync climate control” and it will. Although I’m not sure if the Hey BMW function is live yet, might have to push the voice command button on the steering wheel first.
Somewhere I read Hey BMW was being sent to iDrive 7 cars early next year.

The exhaust sounds a little more pronounced on the outside, but couldn't really tell much difference inside. The cabin was quiet. A little too quiet!! Ha! - compared to the X5 M I drove right after that! WOW!! Now that's music to ones ears!! www

Great review. Thanks!
Did you happen to take a pic of the interior? I’m still undecided about coffee vs. Cognac Vernasca Leather I am doing the Fineline Stripe Brown Wood Trim. Going Arctic Gray outside. |

Sorry I didn't get a photo but the Cognac leather looked really nice and worked well with the Fineline Wood. I debated back and forth on the Cognac and the Tertufo Extended and went with the Tartufo w/ Fineline. I also went with the Arctic Grey.

Hopefully we can link one of the shortcut/hot keys to the function. I'm sure these are going to come in handy in the G05. I too use use the sync button all the time.
Check the review below for a better idea of what I'm talking about. |

There is another video of a CA doing a demo/drive of a 40i, and he shows you can Sync the A/C just by pressing down on the "Menu/AC" button on the dash, so it looks like they just tried to hide it but it is still there lol.

Saw Coffee Vernasca Leather recently; looked very nice, lighter than it appears in configurator. More brown than black.

As far as syncing, it only indicates that is done through the iDrive menu. Of course there are shortcut buttons available...so you could always assign one of those to the sync button as well if the DOWN trick doesn't work.
