Coolant Message
I got a low coolant warning this morning. My car is about 5 months old. Just want to ask around here if this is common for this car as my previous car never needed coolant outside of service. Otherwise, I will take it into service to check if there are any leaks.
I had to fill about 25 oz to get it back up to spec. |

Mine did that too, I had bmw coolant bottle in garage, needed to dilute it with water 50%. Added coolant good for now. Did not find any leak on my inspection.

Yes, there are two separate cooling systems. One for the engine and one for the turbos.

Mine needed 750cc lol not just top off. Buy a bottle of bmw concentrated coolant bottle for 10 bucks from dealership. Dilute 50:50 with water. Had a bottle sitting in garage from previous f10 m5.

And I agree, I had a bottle of BMW coolant that I used on my E46 M3. But I only needed it after it was over 10 years old, closer to 12. |

I had mine come on when cold at night after picking it up at the airport. Car is 6 mo's old. Drove home and parked in garage. Light did not come on the next morning. Had an oil change scheduled for the next day and they checked it out. Nothing out of the normal and it never came on again.

Just had mine do the same thing today. It got below freezing this weekend and I haven't driven her since Friday afternoon. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue in in the winter. I am due for service in 2300 miles. The service advisor said this is common in newer BMWs.
It is a little odd though because the rest of the day I had some weird startup errors with the driver assist systems showing "permanently off" for about 10 seconds and the digital dash not displaying for the same amount of time. Also my bluetooth would restart my music selection regardless of what the last song was.

What coolant did you use? And can I use same coolant for both? Or do they have different ones. Like blue and red. I have some genuine bmw blue coolant not sure if i can use it? Both my coolants are less than minimum. 2019 F90 M5 competition.
