F30 screen/music/amplifier cuts out with start/stop

Hi there.

There is an issue that has been nagging me for a while. I put up with it for years but now that am thinking of selling my car, I want to repair it.

I had a mosconi glades system with amp, front speakers, tweeters and subs fitted by an audio specialist.

The problem is that when the car restarts from a start stop cycle, the head unit, the screen, and music cuts out for about 3 secs. I can faintly hear the music from the rear speakers but it seems like the amp shuts down and restarts as the car starts again. This happens over and over during every start stop cycle. It happens when the car restarts. If I turn this off, it doesn't happen.

I hope I have explained this well. This usually happens after the second start/stop in a journey. Some times it goes away. I don't think it happened with the base stereo.

I would really appreciate any help or direction to solve this issue.

I know I can switch off start stop but I want the car to function normally.

It seems that the system has been wired in to a circuit that gets no power when the starter motor engages. The same thing happens on the Aux power socket under the glove box. I only know because my dash cam doesn't have an internal battery and with stop start active it goes off when the car starts and then reboots itself and runs fine until next time. No issues with stop start turned off.

Thanks man. I now know what to look for. The problem is that on the first start stop cycle, most of the time it doesn’t turn off. It’s on the subsequent ones that the issue starts to appear. This system was installed by a relatively famous guy on bimmerforums based in Dublin, Germaniks who was know for quality installs. I guess it would be a relatively difficult job for a noob like me and need to hunt around who will troubleshoot it for me. I have moved to the uk so can’t go back to him.

Maybe give him a call or Email.
He may have come across this before and tell you how to resolve it yourself.

Hi again.

Got no reply from my installer.

Anyone knows a good audio installer in Manchester area who can remove the mosconi system and put the factory base audio back in?

Just getting my car ready for sale. Might need the system for my next car.
