Toilets

Getting our bathroom done and need to order a toilet. I'm pretty much decided on a Villeroy and Boch O.novo rimless (should mean my knob doesn't hit the rim when having a shit).

It needs to be:

rimless
close coupled
open back

Anyone know of any reason why the one I've found wouldn't be suitable or have issues, or can suggest alternatives?

The V+B one will have to be rear fill - will this present any issues in the UK with the pipework having been chased in the walls or is that the norm now? (bottom fill cisterns are out of stock everywhere).

Cheers!

Open back, I'm assuming you need to exit to the side for the soil waste?

You can actually get ones which are filled in on one side and have a cut out to the other side. Gives the appearance of a back to the wall pan and saves having pipes on show on the side that the waste doesn't need to exit. They're quite neat for that situation.

Top or bottom entry for water supply won't be an issue.

V&B stuff, very nice but massively overpriced for what it is.

Yup, open back required because of soil pipe exit.

I agree V+B is overpriced but it's one of the few (nice) options available. Not seen the ones you describe though, not that it's really an issue, the side that won't have the soil pipe exiting will be next to a wall to you'll never see it anyway. Managed to find a bottom inlet too which makes replacing the inlet valve easier at a later date.

I think we're decided, just got to hope it'll arrive in the UK in time...

If anything a top inlet valve would be easier to replace, more work to install. But to be honest it doesn't really matter, they're Geberit insides anyway and should last a good while before you need to be thinking about replacements.

you're correct, by 'easier' I meant 'easier to source'. Top/side inlets are a very European thing whereas bottom fill is the UK norm.

You can pick them up quite easily as they use the same filler valve as the built in cisterns (The ones built into the wall with a flush plate). They all have top/rear entry and most places keep them on the shelf round us. I'd actually expect to have to order in a bottom fill valve before a top entry one.

Either way it doesn't make much difference
