Open top Range Rover anyone?

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland...ntral-45964816

Always glad to keep up with news from my home town of Perth!

Can't imagine the sickening feeling the driver had as he felt the first one hit the bridge!

Because there's a lack of experienced professional drivers, because they drive 9-10 hours a day every day (try it for just one day!), get up at 4 am to do it.....and then occasionally make mistakes. Can't think why that might happen.

Not great, but no ones perfect.

Of pilot aids and assist - this driver may have had his license a day or 30 years sometimes shit just happens - in the scheme of insurance claims it’s not a big one.

And the last flight I got the pilot could count or tell the difference between gate 12 and 13 !

And, if a pilot falls asleep mid journey, or stops concentrating for a second, absolutely zero happens.

Still looking for get out clauses?

M40 Caravan Driver.
- Huge error or judgement.
- Failed to correct it
- Continues at speed. Blind panic at best.
- Kills 3 people.
- Had less serous but previous weeks before.

RR Car carrying driver.
- Sub Par Driving (phrase applies here old boy)
- STOPS and reduces impact of error by stopping. First few cars are wrecks
- No one dies
- At this early stage we assume driver didn't do this or anything similar a few weeks ago

Getting up to speed now with the differences?

You don’t know if the truck drive has had any previous accidents.
Clearly he made a huge error of judgement on the simplest of things - the size of his vehicle. Basic really.
Only stopped because he couldn’t keep going.
Could have killed many people.

All assumptions. But hey, we should ban him. He’s probably been half asleep the whole journey or on his phone like many other HGV drivers recently. Assumption assumption assumption. May be he’s 80 and should be banned anyway.

Cars and lorries have human drivers. Humans are flawed and will always make mistakes.

End of, no one is perfect. Limiting those mistakes is the best we can hope for. Assuming every single person who makes a mistake is irresponsible is just ridiculous.

I do not believe that there is anyone on here who hasn't made a little mistake when driving, or had a slight lapse of concentration, that in different circumstances could have been much worse.

Working in IT where the software 'engineers' pay little heed to their mistakes, it's quite ironic to see them calling the driver stupid.

Totally agree all humans can make a mistake and no one is perfect but it isn't exactly rocket science to remember when sitting in the cab of your big lorry that your vehicle is high and the bridge right in front of your windscreen looks low! Heck there will even be signage to warn the driver and he will also know the measurement of his load if he has done his proper preparation for the load.
