EVO Triangle no more...
https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/nor...rious-15328278
Once it had a name, and every petrolhead knew of it, it could only be a matter of time till something was done about it. I hear it's just got silly at the weekends with hordes of folk driving like knobs round it.

I know that road very well. I would be interested to know just how many accidents they have had to support the investment in cameras. I have never once seen a police car up on the moors...

There was an accident in 2016 where 2 people died, and the driver was jailed for 8 years. He was on social media talking up heading there as part of a group and was filmed driving there (very badly) for that purpose.
After that kind of thing it's inevitable, and to be honest, much as I hate it, hard to argue with, if that's what's happening of a weekend.

That area is very remote. Whilst I can understand cameras on the A5 leg (from memory there are already cameras on the approach to the village at the tip of the triangle), the other two parts of the triangle have only a few cars an hour travelling along them.
.....and there are plenty of alternative roads in Wales just as good. Surely having the nutters concentrated in a known area is better than chasing them further out across Wales? |

Not strictly the end of the Evo. Average speed cameras. Hmm, so one could hypothetically still drive with vigour up to the exit point of one of the cameras then pull over and have a brew. If cameras are now going up, police wont be anywhere around.

I had a trip up there with some friends about 5 years ago, 2 cars and about 10 bikes. There was an organised group staying in the same hotel with a range of tasty cars, 911's, DB9, GTR, 360 and a Lambo from memory. They drove in convoy, at speed and were doing blind overtakes with the aid of CB radios and generally scaring the shit out of other road users. We were driving the same roads for much of the day and got caught in the middle of their group a few times.
How we laughed when they all got pulled over, every car, driver and passenger thoroughly checked, video evidence collected with every car held at the side of the road until all checks were completed. We gave them a little wave on the way past at legal speeds and met them in the bar later that evening. Turns out they were released one at a time every ten minutes. To cap it off they had each paid £500 for the trip that included a guide car and driver for the weekend. We had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend, pressing on where it was suitable to do so, not doing banzai overtakes and didn't get any bother at all. It seems that whilst money can buy you a nice car, it can't buy you common sense. |

Average speed cameras were putonthe cat & fiddle run , long time ago.
They are every few hundred yards so a blast and rest is not possible. I guess they will do thesame for the triangle. |

There won't be a reason to go to Wales soon.
