Tested the stock F90 Air Intake System.

Not bad, but some room for improvement. My Corvette ZO6 was much worse. My X5M was slightly better. All stock systems. Only outlier is my F90 has the RaceChip on 7, so it will require more CFM than a pure stock F90 and that will cause more pressure drop. Possibly 5hp more loss than pure stock due to the filtered restriction. Also this is without the Charcoal filter, just stock air filters. Next test will be a higher flowing panel filters. r33_RGSport

Good info!

I never had a F10 but heard the F10's didn't get any performance increase from intakes? If so, will it be worth going aftermarket for the F90?

Also, what's up with $2000+ intakes? My RS7 had a $500 roc euro intake which added sliggt power and dramatically improved sound too lol

The Eventuri definitely looks nice just would like to see the benefits it adds besides a nicer engine bay.

It would depends on how hard are you pushing the stock air filter limitation.
In stock form, the stock filter is sufficient, aftermarket is not helping.
But with higher boost, less restrictive air filter will help.
In combination with catless downpipe, it just will amplify the gain.

It definitely will, less restrictions more air flow = more power.

I had several different Intake set-ups on the 2 F10 M5's I owned and will say this:

- Power Gains are minimal.
- Sound is greatly improved as are looks.
- Very little bang for your buck IMO as intakes are expensive.
- Charcoal Delete + Drop-Ins improve sound (nowhere near intakes) and provide the same minimal power gains.

I'm undecided as to what I'll do on my 19' M5C but more than likely start w/ charcoal delete + drop-ins.

What aftermarket intake systems did you have on the F10?

That is typical. BMW designs a fairly good system. From the pressure drop, 10-14 rwhp is the max penalty. If a drop in reduces the h20” under 5”, I’m finished. Just wish I had one to test.

Not my FlowBench, but a typical test of panel filters with different media. On my Bench, the Green picked up a lot of CFM over the my stock ZO6 filter...was worth 10-15hp.

What aftermarket intake systems did you have on the F10?
Dinan, Eventuri, BMS and Charcoal Delete w/ K&N drop-ins.

Exactly! On a per dollar basis you really can't beat the charcoal delete w/ drop-ins. Less than $100 and you get a little better sound, some HP and better throttle response.

A good short ram would add power with added boost for sure, otherwise I would stick with stock and a high flow drop in.

Short ram while heat soaked.
It will be like driving in Summer weather all year long or living the LA life.
For us in LA won't matter much for 11.5 months on the performance, but worth 11.5 months of popping up the hood during shows.

Any negatives of doping drop ins + charcoal delete?

I disagree, I would prefer more volume as close to turbo outlets as possible, intercoolers will cool down the air then.

I know what you are saying, but all the logging on our 1500hp stuff it’s “better “ to keep the inlet as as close to ambient as possible for air density , IC efficiency and keeps the compressor closer to the center of the map island.........it’s being picky.....but I hate parasitic loss.

Short Rams will work If the stock system has a high PD and they eliminate that. No question and they have a spot for looks , cost , sound , some performance gain , etc.

Best is no/low PD and ambient.

On the F10 M5 platform oiled drop-ins created issues with MAF sensors so going with non-oiled or dried out oiled filters was important.

F90 M5's have no MAF's so should not be any issues although I've not yet done this so not speaking from my own experience.
